Won Bin is not just admired for his handsome look, soulful eyes, or chiseled abs and all that jazz, he is putting his name on the List of Celeb Humanitarians.
Won Bin, appointed as UNICEF goodwill ambassador, had a very meaningful visit to Gambia in Western Africa, where half of million children under the age of five die each year from preventable or treatable illness, such as diarrhea and malaria. Instead of only giving his money, he decided to put the time to work in the field and visited sickly children in local hospitals. According to the insider, the actor was not afraid to sit down and spend time with the children.
“I was saddened to meet these children who became blind due to vitamin A deficiency. With less than a dollar, vitamin A deficiency can be averted each year. With 5 dollars, simple mosquito nets can be distributed to each household and death from malaria can be reduced by 25%. I learned that something that had been so trivial and insignificant to me could save millions of lives in developing countries. Therefore, we must find some way to help these children.”
It’s pretty cool that Won Bin know how to use his fame and money to support worthy causes; he is committed to using his resources to help the world’s most vulnerable people. I hope this will set a good example to Korean celebs who don’t really care about helping anyone but themselves.
