K-netizens wonder if YG Entertainment would release negative articles if the BLACKPINK members opt out of their contract renewal

AKP STAFF

Online users wonder if YG Entertainment would publish unfavorable articles regarding the BLACKPINK members if they choose not to renew their contracts.

Ever since there have been reports that YG Entertainment only successfully renewed its contract with Rose, all focus has been gathered on the other three members - Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa

Despite the label stating that the contract renewal is still under negotiations with the remaining three members, the news caused a ripple across the entertainment industry, causing various rumors to surface. It even shook YG Entertainment's stock prices as its stock price plummeted more than 13%.

It has been nearly a week since the news that YG had failed to renew its contract with Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa. Still, there have been no concrete updates on the matter., causing further rumors to arise. The latest rumor is that Jisoo and Jennie are looking to establish their own entertainment agencies.

However, many netizens view these rumors as mere media play. Some are even speculating that YG Entertainment might feed negative articles to the press about members who choose not to renew their contracts.

One netizen began the discussion on Nate Pann by saying, "In the end, two members are going to form a one-person agency, Lisa might leave for an overseas label. Rose, she might be lucky if it was an actual renewal. Seems like a similar case with the other members. In the end, I think the renewal negotiation for the contract failed a long time ago but YG can't let go until the very end. So what they're doing now is negotiating how much the members are going to promote as a group and how much of that profit YG will take. But I think it hasn't been settled yet so it's being prolonged. If this doesn't reach an agreement and falls through in the end, I think - given YG's image and style - they might make it really hard for the members to work in the future, spreading negative articles and stuff, lol."

Other netizens joined the community and commented, "The article about the members setting up a one-person agency was a misreport...YG refuted the article," "I feel like they would do the same thing they did with 2NE1," "I think YG is betting everything on BLACKPINK's renewal so they're not even debuting Baby Monster," "I don't think YG would block the members from promoting solo," "I don't know why people keep releasing their speculations about BLACKPINK's contract renewals," "I don't think they would purposely release bad articles," "This is so absurd, YG treats their artists really well," "YG surprisingly doesn't treat its artists as poorly as one might expect," and "I don't think YG blocks promotions."

“YG treats their artists really well”?

Tell that to 2NE1, newbie.

ex-YG artists dont get blocked in the industry (like a certain SM) , and I don't think any got bad news after they left the label. So let's just stop the rumors and wait for official news.
