G.Soul made a guest appearance on the May 20 airing of 'Sketchbook,' where he paid homage to the late Prince and threw a low key diss at J.Y. Park

The R&B crooner covered Prince's "The Beautiful Ones," and said, "I'm a big fan of Prince and this is one of my favorites songs by him. I tried to honor his memory."

G.Soul also talked about how he became a hot topic after appearing on 'Sketchbook' last July which was his first TV appearance after 15 years of training. The singer related, "My mother was especially happy," and drew curiosity when he mentioned that he received a lengthy text from J.Y. Park after he performed a short rendition of "I Have a Girl."

G.Soul explained, "The content [of his message] was along the lines of, 'You were lacking air,' and 'Pull your chin in.' I told him 'Okay' but I'm not sure if he's right," possibly implying that J.Y. Park's 'half-air' 'half-voice' method of singing is not for everyone.

Half air half sound technique has been worse for some singers.....don't change what doesn't need it

2PM Jun.K using the technique and actually nailing it without losing his color. It depends to the artist but just saying, its not a bad technique itself. G.Soul's style is heavy R&B so I can see why it doesn't work on him.

Who the f*ck cares about JYP's comment?! What's important and what should be discusses is how talented G Soul is! I mean damn what other korean can sing like him!!! Also, he deserves so much props for 1) Commemorating Prince by absolutely slaying one of his songs; and 2) Boldly wearing a gay pride shirt in front of a korean (largely homophobic) audience. This guy wins on so many levels here. Respect respect!!!

JYP and his air technique 😂😂😂

JYP is always trying to make all his artist use the same techniniques -_- (from what I know) He does this too with rap, always in the same style (Jackson and Park Joon Hyung say that he makes them rap in the same rhythm, and it is the same for other JYP artists) I hope he opens up with other styles...

JYP lowkey wants his artists to sound like him. WooYoung and JunHo sound exactly like JYP.

Ok, "The Beautiful Ones"... He knew he wasn't gonna be able to match Prince's raw edge or emotion so he didn't even try. He went for a more jazz based laid back version and did a DAMN good job with it. I honestly believe that Mr. Rogers would be proud of that. As for the "diss"? A good producer can apply his style to any artist. A great producer can apply any artist's style to his talent. I'll just leave it at that. ;)
