It was previously reported that DOD Entertainment had established the BTOB Company label for BTOB members Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Hyunsik, and Peniel after finally reaching an agreement with Cube Entertainment for the use of the BTOB trademark. This would allow the members to retain and work under the name BTOB. While Changsub and Sungjae are currently under different agencies, it is expected that the whole group will be active together as BTOB.
While the members' contracts all expired late in 2023, there was still quite a bit of speculation about whether they would be able to retain their name, with fans comparing the situation with that of B2ST who was under Cube Entertainment and were unable to keep their name after their contracts expired.
When the news finally broke that the group would indeed be able to continue using their name, Korean netizens shared their thoughts on a Korean online community.
"They achieved independence while retaining the group name!"
"Congrats Congrats!"
"I'm so glad BTOB was able to reach an agreement."
"Finally T_T Congratulations on your hard work."
"Wow my heart has been racing so much since this morning. This is amazing T_T"
"When I think about my previous favorite group I didn't think it would happen, but I'm so glad it did."
"The other two members have joined other agencies, but BTOB’s activities will likely be under BTOB Company!! Wouldn’t that agency be in charge of the entire group’s activities?"
"I'm so jealous T_T Congrats Melodies."
"I'll be looking forward to their comeback!"
"Wow I didn't expect this because of how stubborn Cube can be."
Cool, good for them. Lets hope G idle can keep rights for their group name when they leave Cube. Anyways whats going on with Lightsum.
