The former members of Wanna One continue to have a strong hold on South Korea's millennial market!
On April 8, MBC's telecommunications company MBCPLUS revealed the results of a survey released through their new mobile app IDOLCHAMP, where they asked users from their teens through 30s which Korean celebrities would make the best endorsement models for various types of mobile applications.
For camera apps, the winner was Ong Seong Wu, who has been known for his strong selfie game, gaining the nickname 'Ong-Nyangi' from his fans for his love of using cat filters. During his time with Wanna One, he was also a brand model for Korea's Snow camera app.
Other popular selfie-loving idols BTS's V, MONSTA X's Minhyuk, EXO's Chanyeol, and EXID's Hani rounded out the top five for camera apps, respectively.
The next category was mobile games, which are known for featuring a wide array of celebrities, from rookie idols to established actors. According to the survey, it was revealed that Park Ji Hoon was believed to be the best mobile game model, receiving a staggering 46%. The idol is well known for his love for gaming and is among the newest members of a special gaming team organized by BTOB's Eunkwang.
Runner-ups for the gaming app category include EXO's Baekhyun, VIXX's Hongbin, BTOB's Eunkwang, and Cosmic Girls' Luda, all known to be passionate gamers.
The third category dealt with travel-related apps, including ones dedicated to making travel itineraries and reserving hotels. Gaining 43.2% of the vote, Lee Dae Hwi was selected due to his reputation as an 'international idol,' being capable of speaking various languages after having lived in Korea, the United States, and Japan.
"Lee Dae Hwi's lively image combined with experience living in diverse countries makes the role of a travel model really suitable to him," one surveyed user wrote.
Following Lee Dae Hwi in the ranks for travel app model were SHINee's Key, Seventeen's DK, JBJ95's Takada Kenta, and GFRIEND's Yerin.
Meanwhile, IDOLCHAMP is dedicating their April survey to ranking which idols would best suit endorsement deals for various retail and distribution companies, including convenience stores, department stores, and duty-free malls.
I guess wanna one is still relevant in the market, its just sad seeing their disbandment at their most peak time. They are strong as wanna one, going solo might be tough by some members. Really miss them!
