A woman arrested on charges of distributing private videos involving national soccer player Hwang Ui Jo has been identified as his sister-in-law. Ms. A, who was taken into custody, had served as a de facto manager during overseas business trips with Hwang Ui Jo's older brother and assisted with various necessities.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Crime Investigation Unit is currently conducting an investigation into Ms. A, who is suspected of posting content exposing Hwang Ui Jo's private life and making threats. During the investigation, it was confirmed that Ms. A is a family member of Hwang and has been his close associate. Authorities are probing her motive for distributing the videos and issuing threats.

Significant discrepancies exist between the accounts of Ms. A and Hwang Ui Jo regarding the circumstances surrounding the distribution of the videos. Reportedly, during the review of Ms. A's arrest warrant on November 16, Hwang Ui Jo's side indicated that there was "no intention to pursue punishment."

Last June, Ms. A had claimed to be in a romantic relationship with Hwang through social media posts, subsequently allegedly sharing photos and videos featuring Hwang Ui Jo and other women.

In addition to the investigation into Ms. A, the police are also continuing their probe into the alleged illegal filming involving Hwang Ui Jo. On November 18, Hwang Ui Jo was summoned as a suspect and underwent questioning. Several of his mobile phones were confiscated, and digital forensics is currently underway.
