A lot of things happened in Korea this past year, and as always, Twitter was the platform to talk about anything and everything. Twitter Korea has released their official lists of the most talked about issues and people for the year 2016!
Top 10 Keywords of 2016:
Choi Soon-Sil related keywords were the most mentioned this year, and as expected, K-Pop continues to be popular among Twitter users. The Sewol Ferry incident, although it took place nearly 3 years ago, was also in the Top 10. Here are the top 10 keywords:

Korea 2016 Golden Tweet:
This year's 'Golden Tweet' -- the most retweeted tweet -- goes to BTS again! The group's November 20 tweet from '2016 Melon Music Awards' has been tweeted more than 190,000 times. They also had the golden tweet of 2015.

People with the most followers:
Idol stars continue to have the most number of followers. G-Dragon tops the list and overthrows Siwon, who reigned supreme on Twitter for many years. They were followed by Donghae, Nichkhun, Psy, BTS, Yesung, Leeteuk, BoA, and Suzy. The 2015 list can be found here.
Firsts on Twitter Korea
Various 'Firsts on Twitter' also occurred this year. BTS was the first K-Pop star to have a special emoji for hashtag, creating over 39 million tweets!
BTS and 'SK Telecom' also did another 'First on Tweet,' having a CF video on its timeline for the first 24 hours!
