Weekly Recap: bitter tensions, social media shutdowns, and disbandment of your favorite girl group?

Zico, Tao, BTS, TASTY, Song Min Ho (Mino)

This week was just chock full of drama and tensions from internal tensions in idol groups to puzzling entertainment agency-idol interactions. You definitely need to take a breather right now and catch up on what went down in the past seven days.

Mino apologizes for his offensive lyrics

WINNER's Mino taught us all a lesson that we really need to watch what we say (or, in Mino's case, rap) sometimes. On a recent appearance on 'Show Me The Money 4', he was heard rapping, "Mino targets all the daughters, spread (your legs) like you're at thegynecologist." Shocked at the offensive lyrics, viewers demanded an apology for the lyrics, causing him to issue a public apology through the WINNER official Facebook page. However, for some, that was not enough. The 'KoreanAssociation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists' released a statement on their website, where they demanded an apology from Mino, as Mino's lyrics not only "sexually humiliate all women of Korea but they also defamed Korean women's health, as well as the 4,000 obstetrics and gynecology doctors registered in our association, who give medical examination and treatment around the clock, 24 hours a day for 365 days a year to take care of the health of women and the new lives (babies) that will be carrying on Korea's future in the 21st century." Fortunately, both Mino and YG Entertainment sent in formal letters of apology to the association,

While rap has become a genre that is notorious for being profane and jarring at times, Mino did take a sensitive topic and place it in a negative, vulgar spotlight. Let's hope that Mino truly has learned his lesson!

Tao's social media shutdown + Z.TAO's upcoming debut

While EXO-Ls are trying to remain optimistic regarding Tao's status as an EXO member, a flurry of social media activity seem to point at tensions between Tao and other members. Everyone noticed when Tao went on an unfollowing spree and unfollowed everyone on his Instagram account. To make matters even more startling, Baekhyun and Chanyeol unfollowed Tao on their Instagram accounts. Tao also deleted the phrase "EXO member" from his Weibo account.

Meanwhile, Tao, aka Z.TAO, revealed more details of hisupcoming solo debut, which has been scheduled for July 23.

While it's always good to remain optimistic, it's hard to do so as recent social media activity point towards something going down between Tao and the rest of EXO. Only time will tell what's actually unfolding between Tao and EXO.

Zico gets into minor car accident + could lose role in 'SMTM4'

Fans were worried when news of a car accident involving Block B's Zico broke out. Luckily for everyone involved, no one was injured. However, it came to light that the manager, who was behind the wheel, had been driving under the influence. While Zico was not the driver, he was not completely out of the woods, as he could face legal action if he had pressured his manager into driving while knowing of his manager's inebriated status. Seven Seasons, however, insisted that Zico had not known that his manager was drunk. Despite this, representatives of 'Show Me The Morning 4' revealed that they are still discussing whether or not Zico will remain on the show.

While it's great to hear that no one was hurt this time, it's important and essential to remember that driving under the influence is a dangerous decision that can potentially result in fatal outcomes. Managers especially need to care for their idols and make sure they do not come to harm. Let's hope he learned his lesson well.

Sexual harassment victim speaks up

A few weeks ago, a female actress came forward as she accused a male coworker of sexually harassing her during filming of a movie. Since then, actress 'A', actor 'B', and the director have spoken up to talk further about the incident.

Actress 'A' remained firm in her stance that actor 'B' had sexually assaulted in a scene where a drunk husband physically assaults and abuses his wife. "We entered filming after agreeing that [B] would slightly pull my shirt which would expose the drawn-on bruise on my shoulder. But once the cameras started rolling, he tore off my shirt and my bra. 'B' harassed me so aggressively that I even suffered wounds on my body. He even tried to pull my pants off and tried to lay his hands on my lower body," she said of the ordeal.

However, actor 'B' continued to disagree with actress 'A's' claims."There are many aspects that are not true. He feels wronged by the accusations,"his lawyers said."There is definitely a factor that each individual interprets the roles and scripts differently."

Meanwhile the director continued to distance himself from the incident, saying"It's a matter that only the two know."The film production company similarly echoed the director, stating, "Since this is an issue between the actors, we can't give a definite answer on what's happened with who," as the actor and actress were in an enclosed space which made the situation difficult to watch and assess for outsiders.

Improvisation does occasionally occur on set, sometimes with brilliant results. However, for a violent scene that would already prove to be intense to shoot, the male actor should have gotten her clear-cut consent for his actions before putting her in such a predicament, which was made even more humiliating as her clothes were ripped off in front of the filming crew without prior notice or preparation. What's especially disturbing is the fact that people have been targeting the actress as they say that this is just a publicity stunt to further her career. Let us all not victim-blame here while remembering the importance and absolute necessity of consent in all areas of our life.

TASTY's bitter tensions

Just what the heck is going on here?! Fans were not the only ones left confused and flustered at an official SNS post that spoke of TASTY's sudden halt in promotions in Korea.

"We are flustered. We are waiting for TASTY to contact us,"a rep from Woollim Entertainment stated."We are shocked that TASTY have wrote such words on SNS without consulting the company. TASTY were planned for a comeback back in June and promote in both Korea and China. The recording was already completed and we had even scheduled broadcast appearances when the duo suddenly left for China and cut off contact in early June."

Two recent tweets from TASTY, however, made it seem as though that was not the case. "?? What do you mean we didn't tell you and disappeared? Then what is it that we talked about with all the executives and CEO before?? What we can't understand is we sufficiently explained our position and the company said they understood us... But now you come and say it like as if we unilaterally decided to disappear.. We can't understand this," the first tweet read, suggesting that the decision to halt TASTY's promotions in Korea had not been so one-sided after all."What do you mean the recording for our new song was finished? Who was it that picked the song without listening to our opinions and told us that if we didn't accept this new song as our title track that our comeback may be pushed back to who knows when? We are the type who don't like to talk about each and every little thing, but it seems the time has now come for us to do so,"they added.

Woollim Entertainment responded by continuing to insist that TASTY had one-sidedly decided to halt all activities in Korea."TASTY have never discussed halting their promotions in Korea with the executives of the company. We only talked about activities that would follow their comeback," they stated. "As for the selection of title tracks, that is of course the responsibility of the company. What's important here is that despite never having discussed halting their promotions in Korea, they have left for China and cut off contact with the agency."

What do you think is happening between TASTY and Woollim here?

Is your favorite girl group about to disband?

According to Newsen, a popular girl group may soon be facing disbandment due to jealous tensions. Member 'A' of this girl group is said to always have been an outcast since the group's debut, due to her slim figure and good looks. When member 'B' attempted to alienate her from the group, 'A' went on to achieve success in acting roles, causing the other members to protest to the CEO to stop pushing 'A' towards success. While 'A' even asked the group members if she should just retire or drop out, tensions continued to persist even as members continued with individual promotions, with the group on the verge of disbandment today.

The names popping up most frequently amongst netizens are SECRET and miss A.
