EXCLUSIVE
[EXCLUSIVE] Asian Americans protest outside Japanese prime minister's hotel over the issue of sexual slavery

Buzz

Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, previously was met with a silent protest from the students at Harvard University when he visited in order to make a speech, but the opposition towards his presence continues even days after as he resides at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in California.

At Harvard, he had said, "When it comes to the comfort women issue, my heart aches when I think about those people who were victimized by human trafficking and were subject to immeasurable pain and suffering," hinting at remorse for Japan's involvement with sexual slavery during the war when Koreans were used as "comfort women."  He had said, "In the 20th century, we have seen history where once conflict arises, women's human rights and honor are deeply woundedwe had such a history," but failed to mention or apologize directly, rather beating around the bush, which angered his listeners.

Now, Koreans and other Asian Americans are standing outside his hotel in California, proudly holding American flags as well as signs in protest.  Signs read, "Japan!  Tell the Truth!" and more, demanding that the issue of sexually exploiting Korean and other Asian women in the past be addressed directly.  Cops have shown up to monitor the scene... a familiar scene in the United States these days with protests in Philadelphia and Baltimore continuing to heat up, as well.
