Korean subway line gets a makeover for Independence Day

Buzz
August 15 was Korea's Independence Day (Gwangbokjeol), marking the date when Korea broke free from Japan's colonial rule back in 1945. On this day, Koreans are encouraged to display the Korean flag, from their homes, stores, to public establishments. This subway line in Busan went all out with its Korean pride, as subway riders were surprised to find not only mini-flags dangling from the ceiling, but a huge poster of the cheering nation, informative posters on the history of Independence Day, as well as decorated doors to create a "Reply 1945 Busan" themed ride.

Fun fact: These "wooden" doors have the words "rubber shoes" on them, replicating what stores that sold rubber shoes (popularly worn during the 1940s) would look like.
