Agency of virtual boy group PLAVE takes legal action against malicious posts

PLAVE is a virtual boy group consisting of five members: Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho, and Hamin. This ensemble has quickly captured the hearts of fans worldwide with their unique talents and digital personas.

On March 12, the group's managing company, VLAST, shared a significant update via Weverse, addressing an issue of utmost importance to both the group and its dedicated fanbase.

''Our company, VLAST, continually monitors malicious comments aimed at PLAVE members, including slander, defamation, and unauthorized disclosure of artists’ personal information, as well as those spreading baseless rumors about the company. We’d like to inform you that we are carefully reviewing the matters reported by fans and taking strict legal action against them.

We are actively pursuing legal measures against malicious online activities targeting PLAVE. We have reviewed approximately 20,000 reported cases and evidence collected by the fans and the company, and have completed criminal complaints for approximately 30 cases deemed prosecutable as of November 2023. Legal actions have also been initiated against individuals spreading unfounded rumors about PLAVE and our company on Twitter [X].

We have been informed by the investigating agency, Mapo Police Station, that they have collected IP addresses for all cases filed, and are in the process of identifying suspects. Due to procedural constraints, we are only able to disclose this information now. We have demanded strict punishment under a zero-tolerance policy against the suspects, and following criminal prosecution, we will firmly pursue all legal proceedings, including civil damages claims. Our company will also consistently apply this policy to all future incidents.

We deeply appreciate every report fans send us, recognizing your valuable time and care invested in each submission, which reflects your genuine love and concern for PLAVE. We are committed to honoring the purpose behind your reports and promise to protect our artists’ rights to the best of our ability.

We are always grateful for the continuous love and support from the fans, and we will continue to strive to repay it with an even greater commitment in the future.''

In a related announcement, VLAST also addressed the topic of fan gifts and donations. Aligning with the wishes of PLAVE members, the company has decided to no longer accept any gifts other than letters. This decision underscores the group's appreciation for the personal connection and sentiments conveyed through written words, prioritizing meaningful interactions with their supporters over material gifts.

This series of statements from VLAST not only highlights their proactive stance on safeguarding their artists but also reflects a deep respect for the bond between PLAVE and their fans, ensuring that it remains built on mutual respect, love, and understanding.

Even a virtual group isn't safe from these trolls. Good to hear that the company is taking action.

Good, the real people behind PLAVE deserve protection, the same as any other artist.
