Singer and actress BoA stirred controversy with her debut appearance on cable channel tvN's 'Marry My Husband' in episode 10, sparking ongoing debate about her acting prowess. BoA's brief yet impactful appearance as Oh Yu Ra left a lasting impression. Despite only appearing in one scene, her character's entrance was marked by a surprising revelation and a bombshell statement.

In episode 11, which aired the following day, BoA's character escalated to become the ultimate antagonist, initiating threats against Kang Ji Won (Park Min Young) and assuming the role of the final villain.

Portraying the chaebol Oh Yu Ra with sharp charisma, BoA captured attention with her relaxed eyes and haughty demeanor, returning to the small screen after a seven-year hiatus. However, some viewers expressed dissatisfaction, labeling her casting as a miscast and deeming her acting skills unsatisfactory. Additionally, there were mixed reactions to her character, with some finding it unattractive or improbable.

Despite the initial high viewer ratings, subsequent episodes witnessed a slight decline, prompting speculation about BoA's ability to win over audiences in the remaining episodes. The ongoing debate surrounding her acting proficiency and the portrayal of her character adds intrigue to the series' future direction.

In reaction Korean netizens shared their thoughts on a Korean online community

"I thought it was fine...I didn't think it was so bad to be talked about like this."

"I just don't get why the character of Oh Yu Ra is even happening."

"The way she said her lines felt a little like when she's a judge (on shows)."

"The character and the acting were all a little weird."

"I just saw for a minute and the acting wasn't good."

"The character is lacking, and it doesn't suit BoA."

"If the character is weird, you have to be able to make up for it with your acting, but both the character and the acting is weird."

"Miscast T_T"

"Not sure if it's because of the character or the acting, but it all did seem very awkward."

"Don't know if the character is even needed...the character only exists in the original work, and was removed in the webtoon...from the audience's perspective it doesn't make sense because Park Min Hwan and Jung Su Min have acted like villains the whole time, and now there's a completely new villain."

"She wasn't good at acting."

"Her acting...there was something weird going on with her lip so my eye kept getting drawn there."

I have too many complain over BoA's casting. First, her acting skills are nothing to write home about (this, after all, is just her second or third proper acting role) - procedures such as botox may have affected her expression, but this may be intended for the role if the description was: "heavily botox-ed heiress". Second, she looks a wee bit older than the ML, more fitting to be her evil stepsister than her fiancee (Park Min Young is also older but they somewhat still work). Third, there is no reason to actually cast BoA as a recurring role since she is not known as an actress - a guest role of 1-2 episodes would be more appropriate. I wish they had actually gone with an experienced actress such as Kang Han-ah, Lee Chung-ah, Yoo In-young or Han Sun-hwa who would've nailed this role better but is probably overqualified.

The first time I realized from her was her philtrum, its very stiff, i think its too much botox and filler on the lips. The way she speaks does not look real. Like there is no emotion.
