3 reasons BTS's V (Kim Taehyung) accepted the role in IU's 'Love Wins All' music video despite having to enlist in just 1 week

Singer IU recently released the music video for her pre-release single "Love Wins All," in which Kim Taehyung, aka V from BTS, starred as her love interest in a post-apocalyptic world.

'BangtanTV' and 'IU TV' have both released different behind-the-scenes videos of the making of the "Love Wins All" music video. Both provide viewers with insights and footage into the creation of the music video.

In the video, IU revealed the reason why Taehyung was cast as the male lead, stating:

"I was talking with Director Um Tae-hwa & we were discussing about the male lead. He has to possess the mood of a young boy. However, he must give off a very cool & reliable feeling after the transformation. So l asked, "But Mr. Um, who on earth is like that?" Then, by chance, around that time I needed to contact V about something. Oh? V? I sent him the music first & V loved the music. He listened to 'Love wins all' and happily decided to star in the MV."

It was revealed that this was Taehyung's last big project before he began his mandatory military enlistment on December 11, 2023. He had only a week before that date, and the filming process itself took up two days.

Despite the tight schedule, Taehyung provided three reasons in the videos for accepting the role.

1. He admires Director Um Tae Hwa.

Taehyung shared his admiration for the music video director, Um Tae Hwa, who had worked on the film 'Concrete Utopia,' and he seized the chance to collaborate with him.

"First of all, the director of the music video was Director Um Tae-hwa, who filmed 'Concrete Utopia' so I thought it would be a precious memory to work on a piece with him and I decided to star in the MV."

2. He didn't have time to shoot a drama or film.

Taehyung revealed that he was too busy with his solo album to shoot a drama or film, as fans had wished, but he wanted to leave behind a lot of content for them.

"As I was preparing my solo album, I didn't have much time. So I promised ARMY that I'd shoot a drama or a film, but I couldn't do it. So it was a shame, and I was upset for not being able to do what ARMY would've wished to see. I'm trying to leave as much stuff before I leave (for the military). So, I think they'll be able to see some fun stuff while waiting."

3. He loved IU's song.

Taehyung was also a fan of the song itself. When he guested on IU's Palette last September, he praised Dong Hwan, the keyboardist of the Palette band, who also happens to be the composer of "Love Wins All."

"When IU called me, I said I should listen to this song first. After I listened to it, I knew that I would regret it so much if I don’t do the MV because it was totally my jam."

The combination of Taehyung and IU's acting, the beautiful song, and the talented director's participation all contributed to the success of the music video. It has gone viral since its release and continues to be a popular topic on social media even a week after its debut.
