Why Cha Eun Woo launching his own fan club is receiving mixed reactions

AKP STAFF

The announcement of recruitment for Cha Eun Woo's personal fan club has elicited a complex response from the fan community. Despite expectations of enthusiasm, there's an emerging sentiment of discontent among a notable segment of fans.

On December 1, Fantagio, through an official statement in the ASTRO fan cafe, disclosed their intent to initiate membership recruitment for Cha Eun Woo's official fan club. The recruitment phase is scheduled from December 5 to 19, with the fan club activities planned to extend from the start date through December 19 of the subsequent year.

This development has been met with an unexpected reaction from fans, particularly in the context of ASTRO's ongoing hiatus since the release of their third studio album in May of 2022. The hiatus period witnessed significant changes within the group, including Rocky's departure following the expiration of his contract and the tragic passing of member Moonbin.

Given these circumstances and the emotional impact of the group's restructuring, the announcement of Cha Eun Woo's individual fan club, without any clear information regarding ASTRO's future, has been received with surprise and concern. Fans, seeking clarity and reassurance, are voicing their need for a comprehensive update on the group's direction and future plans. They are actively engaging in the ASTRO fan cafe, urging the agency to release an official position on these matters.

Fans are articulating their sadness, stating sentiments like, "Is this fair to AROHA?" and "There seems to be a lack of respect for AROHA."

Other netizens and fans commented, "What?" "It's not like the group disbanded or Cha Eun Woo signed with a new agency or anything... Why are they recruiting new fans? If they were going to recruit Cha Eun Woo fans, they should've done it somewhere else not on ASTRO page," "I wish my bias has a separate fan club, so I'm envious," "Even if he had huge popularity, this is just crossing the line," "why are they using the name AROHA?" "But if it's Cha Eun Woo, it's understandable," and "I think if it's Cha Eun Woo, he does need his own fan club."

In response to these concerns, a representative from Fantagio informed Xports News that they are currently "checking the situation."

Meanwhile, ASTRO, which debuted in February 2016, is approaching its 8th anniversary. At the end of last year, Fantagio announced the re-signing of contracts with Cha Eun Woo, Jinjin, and Sanha. It is reported that the contract renewal of MJ, who was discharged from the military last month, is currently under discussion.

I don't think it will be a good idea for a fanclub if he is also releasing merchandise and lightsticks orherwise it will be a good thing for his fans who are not aroha.

cuz if he releases lightsticks it will be a super awkward for them if they are in music bank or concert and more than half are filled with eunwoo's lightstick.

jk is also doing the same which is making army's and his solo stan fight.if jk is releasing a lightsticks i will be very oppose of it just imagine in bts concert more than armybomb there are jk's solo stan lightsticks

I agree, it's not right, since Eunwoo rise astro have been put in his shadow and I hate when a whole group got push behind just for one member.

I don't hate Eunwoo but I hope people notice how hard astro have been working for the past years and that they deserve too.
