Gallup Korea released the rankings of the celebrities who left a significant impact throughout 2023.

On December 19, Gallup Korea, a public opinion survey company, revealed the results of their survey 'Artists Who Illuminated 2023,' which was conducted in July, September-October, and November. The survey was taken by 5,262 individuals aged 13 and above nationwide (excluding Jeju Island). Respondents were asked to name up to three of their favorite singers or groups among those who are active in the Korean mainstream music industry in 2023. The margin of error for this survey was recorded at ±2.0 points for ages 13 to 39 and ±1.9 points for those aged 40 and above, with a 95% confidence level.

As per the survey findings, NewJeans secured the top spot with 27% of the votes in the 13 to 39 age group, while Lim Young Woong claimed the first position with 37.8% of the votes among individuals aged 40 and above.

NewJeans, having debuted in July 2022, experienced a meteoric rise to fame, showcasing extraordinary growth. This rapid ascent is evidenced by their leap from 4th position in the 2022 Gallup Korea poll to securing the top spot this year, garnering the most votes in the 13 to 39 age demographic. Their fresh style garnered significant popularity and once again dominated the music industry this year.

In the 13-39 age group, the second-favorite singer of the year was BTS (18.3%), followed by IVE (17.0%) in third place, IU (16.1%) in fourth place, BLACKPINK (12.7%) in fifth place, AKMU (7.4%) in sixth place, Lim Young Woong (7.1%) in seventh place, Jungkook (5.6%) in eighth place, and (G)I-DLE and aespa (both at 5.5%) tied for ninth place.

Singers who didn't make it to the top 10 but received mentions include Seventeen (4.6%), LE SSERAFIM (4.2%), Hwa Sa (3.8%), Parc Jae Jung (3.2%), Sung Si Kyung (2.7%), Young Tak (2.4%), Younha, Jennie (both at 2.3%), MeloMance, Jannabi (both at 2.1%), Lee Mu Jin, Lee Chan Won, NCT (all at 1.9%), EXO (1.8%), and Jung Dong Won (1.5%).

In the 40 and above age group, Lim Young Woong maintained the top position for the fourth consecutive year. Debuting in 2016, he ascended to stardom by winning the final round of the TV Chosun audition program 'Mr. Trot' in 2020. Building a strong fan base, he became a prominent figure in various performances, broadcasts, and advertisements. This year's nationwide tour has been remarkable, with sold-out shows in all regions of South Korea.

Following Lim Young Woong, the second place in the 40 and above age group went to Jang Yoon Jung (12.7%), followed by Young Tak (11.8%) in third place, Lee Chan Won (11.3%) in fourth place, Na Hoon Ah (9.5%) in fifth place, Song Ga In (9.1%) in sixth place, Jin Sung (7.9%) in seventh place, Kim Ho Joong (7.4%) in eighth place, Jung Dong Won (5.4%) in ninth place, and Jang Min Ho (5.1%) in tenth place.

Singers outside the top 10 in the 40 and above age group include BTS (4.5%), IU (4.4%), Kim Yeon Ja (3.2%), Ahn Sung Hoon (2.7%), Jo Yong Pil, NewJeans (both at 2.5%), Nam Jin, Sung Si Kyung (both at 2.4%), Lee Seung Chul, Yang Ji Eun (both at 1.8%), BLACKPINK, Im Moon Se, Jo Hang Jo (all at 1.6%).
