AKP STAFF

A 70-year-old man in Seoul died after being hit by a stone thrown by a child from a high-rise apartment building, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

According to the Nowon Police Station and Gangbuk Fire Station, at around 4:30 PM KST on November 17, Mr. Kim, in his 70s, who was walking inside an apartment complex in Wolgye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul, was hit by a stone dropped from the upper floors of a high-rise apartment building.

The stone was about the size of an adult male's fist, and Mr. Kim reportedly died on the scene from head injuries caused by the fallen stone. It was reported that Mr. Kim was a resident of the apartment complex, and the child who threw the stone was also said to be a resident of the same apartment complex.

Reports indicate that the child involved in the incident is below the age of 10, and thus falls outside the scope of criminal prosecution, also benefiting from protective measures under juvenile law.

The police are currently investigating the specific details of the incident with the child and the parents.

Netizens have been outraged and commented, "Even if the child is under the age of 10, they know right and wrong," "The parents who didn't educate their kid should get punished," "That is murder," "Even 3-year-olds are taught not to throw things from buildings. What was this child's parents doing?" "Please educate your kids properly," "This really reminds me of the drama 'Juvenile Justice'," "The parents should be punished," "oh my god," and "This is so sad."

It's not murder, it's involuntary manslaughter -- UNLESS in the investigation they learn the "child" did it intentionally.
