Netizens argue whether BTS Jungkook violated California laws prohibiting smoking

AKP STAFF

Netizens are arguing whether BTS Jungkook violated California laws prohibiting smoking.

On September 7th, photos and videos of BTS' Jungkook in Los Angeles circulated around the web.

These showed Jungkook taking a smoke break outside a Los Angeles restaurant. It was reported that Jungkook had flown over to LA, possibly preparing for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Shortly after the release of videos and pictures, netizens started arguing whether Jungkook violated California smoking laws. Some netizens claim he violated the state laws prohibiting smoking on the sidewalk. They further claimed the picture of an ashtray outside of the restaurant was old and the restaurant does not have that there anymore. But others stepped up in his defense dispelling claims that he smoked in a prohibited area. Regarding the restaurant's ashtray, they posted pictures from May and August of this year.

Some of the comments are:

"Adult man smoking is not criminal smh This is why all JK fans are becoming core because everyone is trying to drag him to oblivion over the most minuscule things."

"If you see the full video he did not throw away his cigarette on the street, not to mention that area is designated as a smoking area by the restaurant."

"Wow, you guys are arguing over this for days as if JK set fire in the States smh."

"Lol, you were all hating on how smokers are smoking on the streets bothering non-smokers but then now it's your idol suddenly it's all okay."

"Uh, he was smoking in a designated smoking area not on a random street, walking. lmao"

"I swear, making this much fuss over someone smoking happens only in Korea."

"But he did shake off ashes on the street lol"

"Those who claimed Jungkook's tattoos were henna, that he didn't run through the lights driving, and that he didn't go to Itaewon, y'all should just shut up. You are just going to defend him regardless of the truth."

Even if it was illegal, nobody cares in the USA about minor shit like this, This stuff is only ab issue in kpop as Korea and the industry itself is soo hyper fixated on image, face and some semblance of ethics. This is something entirely deviod of in the west unless it's for serious situations like drugs, racism or violence. Besides those subjects nobody gives a fuck.
