Singer Kim Jong Kook opened up about money and cheapskate reputation.
On the September 8th episode of 'Couriers in Mongolia', Kim Jong Kook revealed he prefers driving SUVs, sharing that he owns a Mercedes G-Class SUV contrary to his cheapskate reputation. He expressed, "There's something like this. I talk a lot about saving on tissue paper, but I don't save money on things that give me happiness."
Kim Jong Kook continued, "I don't really get anything emotional from luxury clothes, so I thank myself for not wanting them."

He's not cheap. He's frugal. He doesn't like to waste money or resources. His friends and family have often talked about his generosity (buying them meals/clothes/etc.). If he likes something, he'll buy it. I just saw ep 2 of this series and he instructed the others not to waste water while they were cleaning up at their host's ger because they didn't know how much water they had. It turned out the family would have to drive and bring back barrels of water to use every day, so being cognizant of not wasting water was a good thing.
