A dedicated 16-year-old boy works 15 hours a day to bear the financial burdens of his family

As the world slumbers away at 3 o'clock in the early morning hours, a 16-year-old boy named Yong Il is already awake, rubbing his weary eyes and beginning his grueling day – moving packages and working tirelessly.

On the 21st of last month, the YouTube channel 'World Vision Korea' shared Yong Il's inspiring story as part of a campaign that aims to support dedicated young individuals like him who have stepped up to bear the financial burdens of their families.

Yong Il, in the midst of his second year of middle school, found it necessary to abandon his academic pursuits and forego the prospect of attending high school.

He committed himself to an arduous 15-hour daily work routine that spans a multitude of tasks stretching from working for security companies, dealing with parcel deliveries, and setting up equipment at logistical warehouses and restaurants, to holding part-time jobs at convenience stores. Despite being consumed by exhaustion, Yong Il doesn't let his circumstances defeat him.

He manages to find time to sleep in fragments, rarely eating a proper meal, and most of his days are spent working. He would sometimes take a brief nap on the stairs and scrimp on one meal a day, surviving on cup ramen and kimbap from the corner of a delivery van.

The reason Yong Il had to work so hard like this was his family. His grandfather, who had taken care of Yong Il since he was a child, is currently battling Parkinson's disease and cancer. His father was also in a serious traffic accident, which unfortunately resulted in intellectual impairment.

The driving force behind Yong Il's relentless work is his struggling family.

The child who grew up too fast says, "I wish the day could be a little longer."

Even with these difficult circumstances, Yong Il continues to pursue his dreams without giving up on his studies. Despite Yongil's relentless efforts, the financial burden of his family's medical bills and living expenses continues to weigh heavily on his young shoulders.

Many hope that Yongil, who is taking on the responsibility of his family at such a young age, receives the support he needs. You can learn more about and support Yong Il on the World Vision Korea website.

He's doing something that 97-98% of today's kids won't even comprehend, let alone do. He's the main character in his story, and that's something 99% of the ppl can't say!

wow. i know exactly how he feels. but he did it so young and has so much debt. while i was in college my dad got injured and couldnt work. so i had to drop out of school and take over the family business to support my mom and 2 younger brothers. at least i didnt have to deal with debt. my fathers hospital bills were taken care of by insurance.
