BJ Kim Si Won, a popular streamer on the streaming platform AfreecaTV, is making headlines with her impressive monthly income. 

According to the latest data from 'Poongtoday,' an AfreecaTV star balloon (donations) statistics site, BJ Kim Si Won received a staggering 7,226,023 star balloons in June. When converted into cash, this amounts to 794.86 million KRW (~608,810.86 USD). It's worth noting that the 'star balloon' is a cash item that fans purchase for streamers on AfreecaTV, and depending on the activity level, 60-80% of the earnings go directly to the streamer.

Kim Si Won's journey to success has been quite remarkable. Having debuted in 2012 as Dahee, a member of the girl group 'GLAM,' she faced some controversies in 2014 when it was reported that she attempted to threaten actor Lee Byung Hun for money. During that time, she claimed that she had recorded footage of Lee Byung Hun dirty talking over drinks with her and an acquaintance. In return for the footage, she demanded 5 billion KRW (~3.83 Million USD) from the actor.

Afterward, Dahee was found guilty in court for blackmail and sentenced to a probationary period of 2 years. Then, in 2018, she returned to broadcast activities as an Afreeca BJ, changing her name to Kim Si Won. 

Since then, she has risen to immense popularity and even won the prestigious AfreecaTV BJ Grand Prize last year. She actively engages with her viewers through a variety of content, including song dance covers, Mukbang (eating broadcasts), joint room sessions, cover makeup tutorials, and Vlogs.

BJ Kim Si Won is not alone in her extraordinary earnings on Afreeca TV. The platform itself has been recording high operating profits despite the economic recession. In the second quarter of 2023, AfreecaTV's sales of star balloons reached a remarkable 62.7 billion KRW (48 million USD), marking its highest quarterly performance to date.

Other popular BJs also make substantial sums, ranging from 6 to 7 figures (USD) every month. For instance, BJ Commander Zico, who topped the income rankings in June and July, earned a staggering 4.923 billion KRW (3.8 million USD) and 2.867 billion KRW (2.2 million USD) during the past two months alone.
