Korean web users want this Taiwanese ticketing method to be adopted in South Korea

The meteoric rise of K-pop has created an unprecedented demand for concert tickets among fans worldwide.

However, this surge in popularity has also led to an increasingly fierce battle for tickets, with them selling out within seconds of release. Regrettably, this intense demand has given rise to a disturbing trend—scalpers capitalizing on the frenzy by using bots to purchase tickets in bulk and reselling them at exorbitant prices.

South Korea is now grappling with the urgent need for a comprehensive ticketing system that safeguards fair access and curbs scalping practices.

The scourge of scalping has plagued the ticketing industry for years, causing frustration and disappointment among fans. Despite efforts by event organizers to implement ID checks at venues, determined scalpers have still managed to exploit loopholes and circumvent the system, perpetuating the problem. This has left both fans and authorities searching for an effective solution to tackle scalping head-on.

Recently, one Korean netizen came across a method used in Taiwan that seems to be effective in filtering out true fans from scalpers - a quiz with a set of questions given ahead of ticketing to verify if the purchaser is a true fan or not.

As part of the ticket purchasing process in Taiwan, buyers are required to answer a set of questions related to the idol group or event. These questions can range from trivia about the group's discography to members' profiles, and more. By answering these questions correctly, fans demonstrate their genuine interest and commitment, gaining access to the ticketing page.

Korean netizens commented, "This is a good idea," "This is so good, I don't think Korea is going to adapt but it seems fun too," "These questions are definitely effective since only fans know the exact information about their group," "I feel like that's a good idea but what if you're a fan and you still get the questions wrong, lol," "That is such a perfect idea," "Only the true fans would be able to go, which is good," and "Well if this happens, fans will begin selling the tickets too like scalpers."

I do understand that ticket scalping is a big problem but I don’t think this would work that well. Like one of the comments said, a true fan could still make a mistake and get the answer wrong. A casual fan might enjoy the music but might not know enough about a group to answer some questions and wouldn’t be able to get tickets. Also, couldn’t the scalper just google the answer?

I mean I would love that system as well, but recently I purchased tickets for Taylor Swift. I'm no a fan, the tickets weren't for me, I bought them for my BFF which is a huge fan but couldn't afford VIP tickets and she didn't received the code it was required so I thought it would be a nice birthday present, we've been together for almost 20 years. If a quiz like that had popped out, I wouldn't been able to pass it lol.
