The recent incident involving Jeong Ok Sook, the mother of the late legendary actress Choi Jin Sil, and her granddaughter, Choi Jun Hee, has attracted attention on social media.

The Fact reported on July 11 that Jeong Ok Sook was investigated as a suspect in a house invasion, which took place around 1:00 AM on July 9.

At around 9:00 AM on the same day, Choi Jun Hee quietly left comments on two of her most recent posts on social media. Utilizing the reply function, she included a series of hashtags in her comments, aiming to increase the visibility of her posts. Some of the hashtags included "#LikeforLike," "#Follow," "#WillFollowBack," "#Diet," "#Selfie," and "#DailyLife."

While Choi Jun Hee was managing her social media and leaving comments, her maternal grandmother Jeong Ok Sook was arrested and being investigated by the police for approximately four hours.

According to Jeong Ok Sook's statement, she went to look after a cat, as requested by Choi Hwan Hee, her grandson, while he was away. That is when she unexpectedly encountered Choi Jun Hee and her boyfriend. Choi Jun Hee told her maternal grandmother that "the house had nothing to do with her (grandmother) and she should leave immediately." Jeong clarified that she had been carrying out her grandson's request, but Choi Jun Hee called the police at 1:00 AM and reported her to the police for a home invasion.

The apartment where Choi Hwan Hee lives alone is an inheritance left by Choi Jin Sil to her children and is jointly owned by Choi Hwan Hee and Choi Jun Hee. Until last year, their maternal grandmother, Jeong Ok Sook, lived in the apartment with the two children but moved out after Choi Jun Hee became a legal adult. Currently, Choi Hwan Hee resides in the apartment alone, while Choi Jun Hee lives separately in her own officetel.

Conflicts between Choi Jun Hee and her grandmother have reportedly occurred several times in the past. Choi Jun Hee also alleged that she had been subjected to repeated abuse by her maternal grandmother.

Around 10:30 AM on July 11, there were comments questioning the articles about her grandmother's arrest. Netizens asked Choi Jun Hee, "The article is misinformation right?"

The comments here and in the previous article about Jun Hee have proven the impact that knowing little about a situation can have. Many read about a daughter of a famous actress having her grandmother arrested for being in her home, which admittedly sounds bad without context and ran with it. The truth of the matter is that for years Jun Hee has claimed her grandmother was abusive towards her, prompting an investigation. The grandmother had her arrested and investigated when she was just a middle school student and Jun Hee has messages that show her telling her brother to only speak favorably about her when he was investigated. Truthfully we don't know what is the truth of any about this (although those messages brings a lot to question about the grandmother), but because of the lackluster coverage, a mere surface level of what happened just on the 11th many have, probably without ill intention, left with a very shallow quick judgement, reducing this to slut shames or "clout chaser" accusations.

Again, we don't know the truth, Jun Hee could be lying for all I know, I simply believe that this deserves to be taken seriously for what it entails and for how many years it has existed as accusations, instead of having so many of us believe this has come out of nowhere. Apart from that and speaking on broader terms and not about them specifically, a lot of people seem to not know that it is very common for a family member to be abusive to just one person, Korean grandmothers are famously more favorable of grandsons, with this being an entire humor in culture, for example. Also that affluent families consistently manipulate law in their favor and can very well get investigations to conclude in the way they wished. All in all, I think we need to understand that there is an entire context behind what happened on the 11th that merits seriousness and yet so many have taken this as some trashy girl being dramatic cause she couldn't hook up with her boyfriend, we should all learn more about the situation regardless of who is being truthful before commenting things that show you don't understand much about it.
