On June 26 KST, it was reported that g.o.d's Danny Ahn and comedian Lee Byung Jin sued their former entertainment agency representative for overdue payment of wages. The representative, Mr. Kim (48), was accused of fraud and breach of trust by not properly settling broadcast and advertisement appearance fees for the celebrities, as well as failing to pay wages to the company's executives and employees.
Attorney Yang Tae Jung of the law firm Kwangya filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on behalf of three celebrities, with estimated damages totaling 400 million won (around 300K USD). Attorney Yang said, “Besides the victims who are artists, there are also problems with employees’ delayed payment of wages and clients who haven’t received the money, so the number of victims is expected to increase.”
Mr. Kim has cited the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the company's financial situation as a reason for his inability to make the necessary payments, and may be facing bankruptcy procedures.
