ONEUS's Ravn under fire for allegedly begging his fans for expensive gifts

AKP STAFF

Often cases, fans want to express their love and support for their favorite idol artist by giving them unique and, at times, expensive gifts.

Some agencies do prohibit fans from giving expensive gifts to idols, but there are still agencies that accept them. That is why there are times K-pop idols are the subject of envy since they can get the most unique and most expensive gifts on top of sponsored items and clothes.

Unfortunately, some idols abuse this perk and openly ask fans for specific luxury goods or hard-to-get items from their fans.

Recently, ONEUS's Ravn has been under fire as he was found to be "begging" fans for specific and high-priced goods. One netizen compiled all the messages the idol sent to his fans in an online community and wrote that Ravn has been consistently and continuously asking fans for these expensive gifts.

The netizen began with the message of Ravn asking fans about the park benches with inscriptions on them.

Translation: Something I've been curious about since before! What do you have to do to inscribe lettering on the benches in the Seoul Forest Park?"

One fan also shared, "Other than that Kim Young Jo (Ravn's given name) asked through Bubble how much is it to inscribe his name on the Seoul Forest Park bench and said he was lazy to research so he was asking there. He posted photos of the bench on Instagram and asked how much it would be to do that."

Individuals can adopt a bench at Seoul Forest Park if they donate a certain amount to the park. Individuals who donate over 1 million KRW (~695 USD) can put an engraving on a bench in the park. K-pop fans have been using this donation event as a way to leave inscriptions of their favorite idol's names on the benches.

This information is easily found online, so netizens are criticizing Ravn had asked his fans in hopes they would do it for him as well.

Additionally, the netizen also shared other instances in which Ravn was seen indirectly asking for items from fans. In each of those instances, he would express to fans how much he wanted the item and would share photos of the things that he wanted. What netizens found baffling is that Ravn went on to give the exact size and color he was looking for

Translation: "Aggghhhh I sacrificed by Red Adidas Firebird to customize my pants so I went to go get it again but they don't have anymore."/ "My golden size is 2XL firebird"/ "I'll try to get it!"

Translation: "I have to wear 2XL to complete the proper hip-hop look." / "I wear L for black Firebird." / "For Levi's standard, the good fit for Levi's is W31~32 L32~34."

Just looking a this, other netizens might just think he is just sharing some intimate information like his pants size with fans.

But in another instance, he told fans there is a special limited item that will be given out at an offline store starting from September 30 but expressed he is sad that he won't be able to get it.

Translation: "I found it" / "Noo Pokemon Eternatus is being given out at offline stores starting from September 30...does this mean I won't be able to get it?"/ "What do I wear for K-con."

Additionally, Ravn would often share with his fans that his phone is outdated and would speak in a nuance that he hopes his fans would update his phone.

Translation: "Does iPhone x not have the new cut-out tool even after the 16 update.."/ "I keep pressing the selfie button foolishly."

According to the netizen who created the post, Ravn also shared a selfie of his phone showing fans that his outdated iPhone didn't fit the new iPhone case and was complaining to his fans.

On top of that, Ravn shared multiple photos of luxury brand clothing that he's been looking for and shared with fans where to buy it. He then expressed that the clothing had been sold out. He hinted to fans that the jacket is being sold at a branch store in Korea but expressed to fans that it would be too late for him to go buy it when he returned to Korea.

Translation: "It's so pretty so I wanted to buy it." / "It should be at the 'Boon The Shop' but it won't be there anymore when I return to Korea." / "I will look for a chance at Beverly Hills if I have time after performances."

After seeing his messages to his fans, K-netizens were astonished by how shamelessly he was hinting to his fans about the items he wanted. Many criticized that it seems Ravn is openly asking his fans and hinting at what he wants in hopes that his fans would get it for him.

Netizens commented, "Wow, he's so brazen," "This is such a loser thing to do," "I really hope there was no fan who got him those expensive things," "That Seoul Forest Park bench thing is so funny. Those are all support events done by fans," "This is the first time I saw a celebrity basically begging for things and even sharing his clothes size," "I hope no one was dumb enough to get him the things he basically asked for," "Definitely sounds like he's asking fans to buy those things for him," "lol, he shared those on Bubble," "He's basically begging for these things," and "wow, what is with him. He is basically asking fans to buy him these things."

At first I thought knetizens are being dramatic again but after seeing everything I feel ashamed for him... The audacity... No wonder these knetizens go crazy when their fav idols start dating. I think there should be clear boundaries from both sides. Idols should stay in their lanes and fans should mind their own business.

As much as I love Oneus what he did is surely questionable. I never imagined Ravn to be this type of person. I get it that sometimes you're too lazy to search and I myself message my friends when I don't want to search anything so it would make sense that he just went to ask fans about the benches but those luxurious and branded items.... And the way he even mentioned the size. Dude needs to grow tf up.
