UP10TION is off to a great start in Japan.

The boys debuted in Japan with 'ID' on March 8, and it became the most-sold debut album by a K-Pop artist of all time. The group's 'ID' album is also currently ranked #1 on Tower Records and Billboard Japan.

The record for the most-sold debut album by a K-Pop artist was previously held by EXO with 'Love Me Right' released back in November of 2015, which sold 147,000 copies. UP10TION's debut single album 'ID' sold over 167,000 copies.

Congratulations to UP10TION.

i never say this was physical sales, i posted this to show their rank in billboard jp (they include digital sales and other factor as well) which is pretty impressive too for them considering this just a debut

It's not really that impressive tho, they had 5 versions, they inflated the sales like many other Kpop groups do with all the gimmicks

Nope 147K is the number of SHIPMENT counted in Billboard but every person who has a basci akcnoweledge of the japanese music industry know that to see how much someone sold you have to use ORICON, get it???ok , get that, the real number they sold is 38,878, by ORICON, the MAIN and TRUE source of sales for Jpop releases, get that

They didn't sold 147K honey, that's the number of shipment but the actual number is 38,878, not you coming here teaching me who have been following the ajapnese music industry for nearly a decade trying to tell me at what i have to look at. Oricon is the reliable one and 38,878 is the right one. BILLBOARD count all the gimmicks, Oircon made a new rule to stop these kind of stupid tricks Kpop groups do to inflate sales, that's why it's smaller the number cause it's the DAMN RIGHT ONE, up1'tion ilfated the sales with 5 versions, hand shakes and whatnot, Billboard also counts a certain level of streaming as an album purchase. Oricon has tried in recent times to cut out the gimmicks a lot of artists (Japanese and otherwise, i'm not saying this is something only for Up20tion) used to inflate numbers. There are a lot of reasons for such a drastic difference in numbers, but most people go by Oricon. get that.

okay cool, I was just saying what the article said, if u back ur claims like that i 'll take it, but maybe exo did the same with their debut.. i really don't know anymore, i was just happy cause they are a small group and it would be good for them to be big too

38K is still good for a Kpop group, EXO do the same too, every Kpop group actually use gimmicks so yeah

The article is clickbait and mediplaying as expected by the delusional korean outlets, 147K is the number of shipment, while 38,878 is the REAL number they sold according to Oricon which is the chart everyone uses to see sales

of course it looks weird, because it's a screenshot, doesn't move. Watch the actual video. This thing happened in less than a second. It's just like I PUNCHED YOU IN THE FACE, by mistake. Why did Somi take his side then if this was to be true?

To clear up the misunderstanding, I'll share what I know here. From what I know, Japan Billboard said that 159,779 copies are sold and 38,878 copies at Oricon (from March 6~12). I don't really know about Tower Records' sales since they only reveal the rank without the numbers of album sales :)

159K is the number of shipment, for Jpop releases every person who actually follow Jpop always check Oricon, Jpop sites always use Oricon for physical sales cause even tho not 100% accurate because they don't count all stores Oricon is the most reliable of ALL and show how much someone has "truly" sold. this article is obviously clickbait.

I have to agree that the title of this article is a clickbait. But I got to know that Japan Billboard counts digital too, not physical only so that's why it's that many. And for Oricon case, I heard that they only give the estimated sales, which is around 30% of the sales (They changed to this systems because there are some problems in the past). And lastly I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate, but just sharing what I know ^^
