Great news! New music from TWICE! With 'Twicecoaster: Lane 2,' we have all the songs from 'Twicecoaster: Lane 1,' and three new ones: "Knock Knock," "Melting / Ice Cream," and "TT (TAK Remix)." As you probably know by now, "Knock Knock" burned up the chartsand in case you're wondering, the review for 'Lane 1' can be found here. I always figured there would be a sequel, and this is a great nod to that idea.

Title track "Knock Knock" really does live up to the hype and its well-deserved perfect all-kill chart position. The song is catchy and cute and gets under your skin, it doesn't let up until the end. The stuttery refrain is the perfect hook, and the bridge is sweet, if short. The hook is introduced early, but this doesn't ruin the fun and the repetition really helps. There are aegyo parts throughoutlike it was made to be performed with tons of winking and gesturing. I think, though, it's a contender for most repetitions of a single word in a pop song.

"Melting / Ice Cream" is a sweet piece of R&B. There are funk flourishes, and it has a sweet and steady melodyand a slightly sultry beat. I like some of the time changes here and it really stands as one of the best tracks on 'Lane 2.' It's extremely well-packaged, though not all the girls have much of a chance to shine on this one. It's a nice come-down from the frenetic energy of "Knock Knock."

"TT (TAK Remix)" is not even close to being as good as the original. Where the first song had a natural flow to it, this one has decidedly unnatural starts and stops that are more jarring than genius, and near the end, there's a strange, tacked-on dubstep refrain. "TT" itself is a great single, and a great single screams "I don't need a remix." I'm not sure what they were trying to do here, but to my ears, they did not succeed.

Overall, I think this is a pretty good repackage. You get all the songs from the mega-successful 'Lane 1,' as well as two super-solid additional songs. If you're looking for a way to get into TWICE, this album is for you. Even if you're already a fan, it's definitely worth your while to check out this one.

MV REVIEW

The first thing you notice about this MV is that it's drenched in aegyo. Almost every movement in this production has a cutesy element to it. If you hate aegyo, then close your eyes. You'll get more than your fill if you keep 'em open.

The setup (besides the girls dancing and knocking at each other's backs) is a slumber party. A knock on the door reveals a goofy, smiling J.Y. Park himself, and they shut the door on him. Another knock reveals a book, which flies open magically to reveal illustrations relating to some of the costumes in this video's predecessor "TT." Soon they see that it's snowing, so what do you do at a slumber party but run outside in your pajamas to have a snowball fight? Um, no. They bring it back to "TT" in another fun way, with the kids in their Halloween costumes in the mansion. My only question is this: what did those kids see at the end that made them gape like that? Was it JYP again? Or maybe some frozen TWICEsicles?

The girls play their parts well. I'd love to see the detailed storyboards on this, as the stack would have tobe several feet thick to keep track of all the little things they do from waving, to making claws with their fingers, to placing their fingers over their eyes and peering out the gaps. And the pillow fight was also funny to see.

Still, there was absolutely no dearth of visuals. There are rooms splashed with bright colors, an adorable wardrobe, and their antics were unquestionably light-hearted and fun. Everything pulls you in, and the melody keeps things moving along. Yeah, this is one you should put on your "to watch" list.
