'We Got Married' producer revealed the truth about the rumored contract that says no dating to any celebrities on the show.

On December 14, Producer Heo Hwang and other production staffs held a press conference at the MBC studio building to discuss the new additions to the show.

During the conference, the producer was asked, "Is it true that people on the show have to sign a contract that doesn't allow them to date while on the show?" Producer Heo said, "There is no contract. However, we ask, 'Please keep this mind,' when face to face. When celebrities come on board, they realize the expectations. That part is sort of a promise with the viewers. We have a process of getting their word as an oral agreement."

I don't know why anyone believes this bs. We know mbc trears idols like fucking garbage and how problematic the WGM staff is. Remember when that woman called Taemin a son of a bitch? How unprofessional. It's obvious that they're some kind of contract prohibiting dating during or after WGM. Why do you think almost every *young* pair on the show never end up speaking again? As nice as it is to watch, most activities are scripted with guidelines on what to say or do. There is a little leeway for conversational purposes, but idols are encouraged to do as their told. Anyone that supports this show wholeheartedly can fight me. I'm a shawol so I'll use the taemin example again. WGM is horrible to idols especially when there are two involved. Yea it was nice to watch naeun and taemin for a while, but Taemin got severe hate for "pranking" naeun when it was the show's idea. Also, it's f*cking painful to watch naeun and taemin stand in the same room now. Why are they so hellbent on forcing relationships.. Give idols prompts then let them do as they please. We want to see how they would date, not how the staff thinks they should date.

yeah i remember that episode... poor taemin got useless hate for a scripted show.. plus naeun unfortunately also got bashed by some crazy shawols, which was very rude in imo.

Yea! Most idols go on for promotional purposes, but naeun and taemin cam out worse than when they went in. Naeun getting shawol hate, taem getting apink hate + general public hate for "his" actions. And both idols had crazy shippers constantly berating their sns. It was awful. And Taemin had his Ace promotions right after so it effected how the public saw him. Thankfully he's grown and people don't talk about it as much, but I'll never forgive that show for hurting two Very talented and beautiful idols.

I still remember how Oh Yeon Soo fucked up the feeling of many fans when she meet with Lee Jang woo outside the WGM, Poor Lee Joon must be hurt. Even tough its only a 'virtual marriage' I branded Oh Yeon Soo as a cheating wife. I dont know why ! I still dislike her untill today because of that. That why I think the reason the PD of the show keep asking the celeb to keep their mind on the show. Even when there are no official contract, I think there must be an understanding between them. I really excited for the new couple by the way. I found Gong Myung and Jung Hye sung really cute. And with Hye Sung crush on him I bet it will be really interesting. I just hope that Hye Sung wont be hurt if Gong Myung did not like her back. Really Excited !!

With the whole Lee Joon and whatsherface home girl debacle I'm not surprised if they dont want to be in a relationship while filming. (She was dating some other actor while on the show and when it came out, it blew out, fam.) I mean it literally ended her career and they took a major blow on the ratings.

To clarify while filming WGM they 'discourage' one part of the couple to date other people because it breaks the illusion. It's similar in thought to American shows like The Bachelor where you agree only to date the people on the show since that is what is expected for the ratings. I don't think they would care if the two people acting as married were dating since that would just increase the chemistry between them. If it was a reality show about something else I doubt it would even be an issue but this particular show is about showing 'couples' so there is an expectation from the audience that the producers have to match.

We all know it's true that they are pressured into not dating while on WGM. The question would be what would happen if it came out that they did date during that time. If it's not in a written contract, I'm guessing the celeb could get away with it without being responsible for any damages. But they'd probably have to leave the show

pretty sure they record it too... you can actually use it in court as a contract, and it's something you can breach and that can be penalized. But the staff probably doesn't attach any penalties on it because either they know such a contract is technically not even lawful, or simply because they don't realize it's an actual contract to begin with.

I still can't get the "no dating" problem. It's a damn FAKE marriage. The marriage, the activities, the feelings, the interviews are simply staged like in a movie or drama, so what's with the "promise with the viewers"? Should they evaluate the hypothesis to became a real couple, only because they have been coupled by WGM's PDs after the negotiation with the respective agencies? It's the audience's problem to expect that two "actors" actually fall in love. Moreover, this should happen while they see each other for few hours every couple of weeks, running around from one filming location to another, together with a numerous staff of PDs, writers, cameramen, sound engineers, managers, makeup artists and codis.

The way I read it... it was that the couples can't date other people while on the show (because obviously that would throw off the whole concept... if you were "married" but seen going out with other people at the same time). It doesn't make sense to prevent the couple from dating in real life while the show was airing... that would just add more realism to the "romance". Did I read it wrong? Are they actually talking about the couples dating each other?

That'd be pretty awkward, dating one person while pretending to be married to someone else lolol.

I'm pretty sure what they mean is someone else than their current WGM partner.
