In a new interview at a cafe on November 7, model-turned-actor Hong Jong Hyun talked about losing weight for his recently concluded drama, 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo.'

He said, "I thought that [Prince Yo] would lose some weight because of all the hardships up to his death.  But I lost more [weight] than I thought I would.  I made sure I ate well, but I couldn't exercise and my days were irregular, so I lost a lot of weight.  I lost more weight than I intended.  I lost almost 7 kg (~ 15 lbs).  I started off as 73 kg (~ 161 lbs), but fell to about 67 kg (~ 148 lbs).  I lost a lot of weight, but I also was unable to exercise, so I lost my muscles on top of that."

Well, get plenty of rest, eat lots, and exercise more now!

HJH really impressed me with his acting in this drama. I mean I am a fan of his, but I've always pegged him as a handsome face with decent acting skills. He really proved that otherwise as Wang Yo. Can't wait to see what else he churns out.

Am I the only one that began feeling bad for Yo shortly before his death? He only did what he did to survive. Of course, that does not mean it is right but his whole life was dedicate towards impressing and surpassing his mother's expectations rather than doing what he, himself wanted to do.

Oh I agree. I always have a soft spot for the villains in k drama and could we blame him too much? His mom brainwashed him since birth. I didn't even hate him one but throughout the drama

Me too. I probably misread the situation but when he was delivering his last words to Haesoo, she looked like she pitied him too. I liked that So wasn't all "good" beforehand too.
