misc.

Welcome to our third edition of our 'K-indie Spotlight' series in 2016 where we introduce various independent artists in Korea each month!

With the help from 'Onstage [K],' a Korean indie music program that introduces the authentic beauty of Korean contemporary music to the world, we hope to be adding diversity and possibly enlightening our readers with the Korean music scene that has not yet been touched on.

Check out the round of talented K-indie artists for October 2016 below!

1. Bye Bye Badman

Bye Bye Badman is a sensual ballad rock formed by four high school friends with the same dream. They captured everyone's attention right from their debut by sweeping various rookie awards, such as Dark Horse of the Year at the 2010 Ssamzie Sound Festival, Rock n Roll Superstar at the 2010 Jisan Valley Rock Festival, Grand Prize at the 2011 Hello Rookie Awards, Excellent rookie Artist at the 2011 CJ Tune Up and Best Rookie at the 2012 Popular Music Awards. Let's meet this talented band with their sparkling, youthful energy on this week's ONSTAGE K.

2. THIRD STONE

Third Stone is noted as one of the first native psychedelic rock bands in Korea. Comprised of guitarist and vocalist Park Sang-do, drummer Ahn Seong-yong and bassist Park Jin-won, the band was named after the song "Third Stone from the Sun" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This band debuted in 2007 with the album, "Third Stone," and then released the second album, "I'm Not A Blues Man," in 2009, which reflects Park Sang-do's life and experiences in the U.S. Then they released their critically acclaimed third album, "Psychemoon," in November 2011 and has been diversifying Korean music with their psychedelic music based on blues rock.

3. Xin Se-ha

Xin Se-ha is a singer-songwriter with many nicknames such as "beatmaker deserving more attention," "rising star of Korean music," and "super freak of the Korean indie scene." He first appeared in the industry as the producer of rapper ISle Qim's debut album, "Boylife in 12" and then made his official debut as a musician in 2015 with the single "Touch." Then he released the first full-length album, "24Town," filled with danceable synth pop, funk and new wave music, and the latest single "Timeline" this past April. Strongly inspired by Prince and Michel Jackson, Xin Se-ha offers a retro yet sophisticated sound. Let's learn more about this young and talented musician on ONSTAGE K.
