Song Jae Jung, the creator of recently ended drama 'W' recently sat down for an interview with Aju News

Song admitted at one point during the interview session that she felt "extremely sorry" towards female lead Han Hyo Joo. She said, "I don't think it'd be right to pass any kind of judgement toward Han Hyo Joo. I just feel extremely sorry towards her. There were so many scenes of her running crazily all over the place, sobbing, and just using up all her emotional energy. I felt sorry towards her until the drama's conclusion. I really wanted to show lots of happy scenes but as I was following my story, there were probably many difficult scenes [for Han Hyo Joo]. It's very unfortunate. I also wanted to see the two leads be all lovey dovey and go on dates with a peace of mind.

Song also thanked Lee Jong Suk, saying, "Thank you. In the beginning, I sent [Lee Jong Suk] a lot of text messages telling him that I was really blessed [to work with him]. What would I have done had Lee Jong Suk not looked like his webtoon character? Honestly, it was really important to find a person who looked like he stepped out of the pages of a webtoon, and Lee Jong Suk really brought that aspect to life [on screen]. I'm thankful he was able to do that.

She should be, it was a comeback series for her, and she was being criticized for the role.

I really loved the first half, but there were way too many variables and no clear rules to this sipernatural world. We need rules! She really lost me along the way. Couldn't finish the final three episodes. Too bad, Queen In hyun's man is my favorite K-drama. I loved Nine as well.

Love the drama so much and kinda surprise Lee Jong Suk did really well to portrayed the character ! hehe no offense =] and this drama really made me stay up all night because I can't hold my curiousness toward next episode ! LOL I end up on flu right now and it's all worth it =] good job everyone !!

Despite the very attractive lead couple, a lot of people find the storyline a bit too heavy and intense - especially if you're looking for light entertainment. That said, I think W is probably one of the best K-Dramas for me. The storyline is fresh with enough suspense and intrigue to keep you on the edge

The story started out great but i think it became way too messy somewhere in the middle... Still love the both lead actors and their chemistry

too bad Korean are sleeping on this drama, it's under 10% rating anyway.

Nova_Foxy MoriyaGXP Tuesday, September 20, 2016

i didn't know that rating was that low..I still think W is one of d best Kdramas

Like a lot of people said, W is indeed a great drama, but it is too plot heavy for anyone just to jump in and enjoy the show. That's why Moonlight is doing way better.

What are you guys smoking?? W is one of the biggest dramas in 2016 in Korea lol, the ratings were above 10% throughout, avg being 12% but it also got the greatest CPI and streams and was the most buzzed about drama. Considering its plot it was targeted to the younger population anyway, and it did great ven got an international award and tons of korean ones. Also Moonlight was competing with Moon lovers, no correlation with W.

I think Han Hyo Joo should try her best to take this commentary positively, as difficult as that may be. I know that, somehow, the writer means well.

I was very disappointment in this drama's writing. Because I really like her previous works like Queen Inhyun's Man and Nine, I had high expectations. This drama's idea was great, but the execution was horrible.

hohliu redhop Tuesday, September 20, 2016

From her interview, I think the writer may not realised it....Good cast deserves god script. First half was interesting but second half...

hohliu Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Good Script. Typo

abigailaudrey redhop Tuesday, September 20, 2016

I'm kanna agree with you, the idea was brilliant... I'm into drama that out of the box like this... But the execution was terrible.. I'm sorry but it feel like she doesn't ready to get big in drama industry so maybe she panic that the drama become hyped suddenly? and even beat UF in rating? so maybe because of that the writing on the second half of the drama begin to flop.. The rating is still above 10% and it's rank first in the wed-thur drama but it can be even higher and stellar if the execution is good because damn so much potential and what a fantastic idea. I feel like maybe ljs kanna sad about the writing turning like this, but it's okay though.. He still consider very good actor even in this little chaotic drama and he can even amazingly carry this drama till the end.. I doubt other actor can carry this kanna drama though hahahaha

It is a test of great actors to carry a bad script to the finish and still be praised for good acting. They need to be strong mentally to project the role as the writer intended from the starts. A good actor can lead the drama/movie to finish even if scriptwriter struggles...

hohliu Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Honestly, if the writing was great and rating are high and audiences love the drama. It will be all worth while for Han Hyo Joo. It is not the crying she has to do that will upset her, it will be the complete script..... Was the drama very well written till the end? Did the rating show how popular the storyline was?

Ruki_TM Tuesday, September 20, 2016

yep. LJS  looks like a webtoon character, who is perfect and so mighty but playful as well. Another one is Bipo Jinyoung. They both have that looks, and I'm so damn happy to be fans of them.
