YG Entertainment opened up about Black Pink's promotion plans!

On August 30, a representative from Black Pink's side spoke with Star News about the rookie group, first stating, "We didn't know Black Pink would gain such great attention so fast. We are very thankful. Many fans have been demanding that Black Pink go on variety shows, and the demand for 'Black Pink TV' was tremendous. We are also very thankful about this."

The rep continued, "In response to the fans' support, Black Pink are slowly looking into appearing on variety shows. However, the original plans for Black Pink are to become a team that meets fans with amazing music content. As of now, they will focus on music."

As for new releases, "There are 2 more songs to be revealed following 'Whistle' and 'BOOMBAYAH'. One of the MVs has been completed, while the other is currently in discussion."

I think the YG style of promoting doesn't work in this day and age. You can't afford to stay aloof and inaccessible with so much competition out there.

especially when ha has new idols like winner, ikon, and blackpink who's still making their name in the industry. He should shove them in every variety possible so people would give them more recognition since we all now there are some koreans who doesnt listen to kpop

Well YGE is treating their artists like "American Artists" where they only have to create and perform good music to make money. American artists DO NOT HAVE TO go on SNL, Ellen, or Tonight show (whatever variety shows they have in USA ) to be known because there aren't any. And they still get globally recognized too. I think all YGE artists from now on are going to be promoted using that "American Promotion Strategy" because it's working.

Tbh I like the variety thing. It's kind of part of why I'm into Kpop. You don't see American artists personalities, where as in K-pop they like to have a closer interaction with fans through variety shows.

Although you're right about how he's treating his artists, It doesn't work for everyone. It worked for the older generation (Big Bang and 2NE1), but it's not working for the younger generations (Winner, iKon, Akmu, and LeeHi). They started losing hype and fans because of the long hiatus and not seeing them on any shows.

They are idols though. Like it or not, idols are not just about the music. Plus public ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is become stronger each year. You have to keep a constant presence to be relevant these days. lol

Fans of both bands are going to flip when they hear this. After an explosive debut in early August, YG Entertainment’s newest girl group Black Pink is doing a collaboration with one of the biggest names in the K-pop world: Big Bang. The collaboration is a part of a new promotional EP featuring Black Pink and released Monday during a launch event with Moonshot , a cosmetics company owned by YG. Black Pink’s members are the official models for the debut of Lipfeat, a lip color collection that goes on sale Sept. 2 in Moonshot stores. A mini-album given away at the launch event features five new songs, including a “hidden” track with Big Bang. Each of the tracks is named after one of the new shades of Lipfeat.

YG stans we really must be one of the most pitiful fandoms in kpop. Even though we know YG is such an asshole we still stick around even when he acts like a royal loser. Sigh... i must really be a M to endure this shit. If you don't intend to make Black Pink appear in variety shows why the heck you've been speaking of a black pink tv? "As of now, they will focus on music"... if i had a weapon everytime you said something like this you would be death a thousand times.
