[Drama Review] 'Cheese In The Trap' - Episode 12

Park Seo Joon
Thank the lord! Yong Gon is finally punished for all his wickedness! Hurrah! Yoo Jung and Seol have finally reconciled for the 1000th time! Despite the countless times these two lovebirds have fought and gotten back together, it's always a relief to see our main couple making some kind of progress in their unrealistically twisted relationship.

There were a couple of moments that I did enjoy in this episode. For example, when Yong Gon, the twisted stalker boy, gets outed via school forum by Eun Taek in front of all the guys? Classic. Savage, but priceless.

It was about time that Yong Gon received what he deserved for all the nasty things he did to not only Seol but to his ex girlfriend and everyone else. Though I did find the scene to be awkward as the guys went around in a circle reading the horrible comments that Yong Gon wrote about them, the outcome of it was cathartic.

While I do understand that Yong Gon's actions are all coming from wanting, desperately, to be accepted by everyone else, I'm glad that whatever he was up to was put to a halt at a good time. Until now, it felt as though the plot was revolving too much around Yong Gon and his frightening behaviors more than the core issues between Yoo Jung and Seol and the whole misunderstanding between Yoo Jung and In Ho. After all, we're all here to find out what's really going on between the main four characters.

Once Yong Gon's case comes to a close, another issue rises between Yoo Jung and Seol. This is one particular scene that really got me riled up as Yoo Jung was seen acting like a total child when Seol was finally brave enough to admit to what she's been doing wrong.

Through her brief interaction with In Ha, Seol looks back at herself and what she could have done instead of subconsciously blaming Yoo Jung for the things that are happening between them. A notable turning point for her and Yoo Jung.

We get a whole good chunk of flashbacks of In Ho and Yoo Jung back when they used to be friends up until the moment they stopped being friends. The two were practically inseparable until Yoo Jung finds out that In Ho and In Ha were intentionally brought into the house to keep an eye on Yoo Jung.

We don't really know if In Ho was actually reporting everything to Yoo Jung's father as this is just Yoo Jung's flashback, but from where Yoo Jung stands, In Ho has committed the ultimate betrayal.

Yoo Jung, even in the past, caused issues by keeping his mouth shut, internalizing his pains and letting out his anger by taking revenge. No one really knows about Yoo Jung's true intentions or why he does certain things the way he does. But him being the central character in this drama, he goes through tremendous changes after meeting Seol.

Though subtle and progressing at a glacial speed, Yoo Jung opening up about his past to Seol and revealing his fears is a huge step for Yoo Jung as a person and as a boyfriend. The moment Yoo Jung made himself completely vulnerable for Seol, I finally saw a single stray of light of hope for their relationship as well as the relationship between Yoo Jung and In Ho.

While all this is happening with Seol and Yoo Jung, all victims of SLS are crying again this episode. Will we ever see In Ho happy?
