Private high school instructors booked for unfairly altering grading criteria

Buzz
Rumors that instructors at a private high school in Daejeon had fabricated the grades of their students turned out to be true after an investigation by the authorities.

Daejeon Yuseong Police Station recently announced that they have booked two teachers, one of them being a 53-year-old identified as 'A', on charges of forging students' grades.

The two teachers are suspected of changing high school senior 'B's mark on an essay by altering the assessment criteria, back in 2009.

However, when other students and their parents complained of fallen marks due to the new criteria--which likely curved the grades to favor 'B'--the instructors restored the grades to no longer reflect the changes.

The department of education conducted an audit to confirm the case and submitted an official indictment at the police station. While one of the instructors admitted fault and to forging students' marks, the other instructors denied the accusations even during police investigation. However, based on the results of a lie detector test, police deemed that the grades were indeed forged and detained the teachers.

Authorities have explained that they have yet to determine whether bribes were exchanged between 'B's parents and the instructors in exchange for altering 'B's grades.
