On November 9, Sports Chosun reported on a statement given by entertainer Amy, who was booked on suspicions of purchasing the sedative Zolpidem. 

According to the report, Amy said to the media outlet in a phone call, "After many incidents, I felt overwhelmed by the depression and scrutiny so I had my daily necessities delivered to me. But it's untrue that I also had Zolpidem delivered," rebutting the suspicions against her.

"Every time I had to acquire medication for my depression, I always directly visited the hospital, and took [the medication] under the direction of a doctor," she continued, and added that it is true that she was investigated by the police and that she cooperated to the best of her abilities. 

Amy further explained, "I've submitted all the documents proving that the related charges don't exist. I will cooperate with the police investigations and will respond strongly by taking legal action against any absurd, false articles related to this matter." 

Amy had been embroiled in various controversies several years back for abusing the prescription drugs Propofol and Zolpidem. The recent charges of Amy's purchasing of Zolpidem comes just a couple months after the court's decision to deport her from Korea for all her offenses.
