[Drama Review] 'She Was Pretty' - Episode 10

Siwon, Hwang Jung Eum, Park Seo Joon, Go Jun Hee
There was sooo much feels in this episode! Well, mostly from Sung Joon's intense gaze which felt more like a searing glare. He could have withered a plant with that deep, soul-searching glower. No wonder Hye Jin was avoiding the man all throughout the episode!

Speaking of avoiding, that was all Hye Jin did on the tenth episode of 'She Was Pretty.' When Sung Joon came running to save her from the car accident that he thought she got into, it hit Hye Jin that Sung Joon cares for her more than she thinks, possibly even more than Sung Joon himself thinks. Now that she has ascertained Sung Joon's true feelings for her, Hye Jin musters up the courage to come clean and tell him that she is indeed his childhood love.

Hey girl, let my glare pierce right through your heart.

Maybe if I sip on this cold coffee hard enough I won't combust on the spot.

But then her plan to 'fess up is botched when she discovers that Ha Ri is still playing her role as the fake 'Hye Jin.' I don't understand why in the heck Hye Jin was so befuddled when she is the one that spawned the whole scenario by asking Ha Ri to pose as herself in the first place. Well, I suppose Hye Jin couldn't portend that her BFF would fall for Sung Joon when she first asked for the favor. It's not everyday that you ask your best friend to use your identity to pretend to be you in front of your childhood love, right? So let's give Hye Jin a break.

Dammmmmnnnnn nice ride, Shin Hyuk.

Being the compassionate soul that she is, Hye Jin decides to wait until Ha Ri herself decides to spill what's been going on and why she is still seeing Sung Joon behind her back. But at this point, no matter who confesses first, somebody will end up getting hurt in the process...actually, no, it's mostly Ha Ri who will take the heaviest punch from this entire fiasco. Sung Joon may be feel outraged and indignant for a short while from being straight up lied to, especially considering that lie was formulated by Hye Jin, but Ha Ri emerges as the sorest, most heavily wounded loser as she will betray the trust of both Hye Jin and Sung Joon.

Nae shimjang is koong koong koong~~

The other sore loser in this ridiculous love game is Shin Hyuk, who also ran to save Hye Jin earlier in the episode but ended up with naught but a blow...to his body and soul, but mostly his soul. Even though Shin Hyuk knew from early on that he was on the losing side of Hye Jin's affection, he just can't stop caring for the woman. Hye Jin will always be his beloved 'Jjacksen'! Alas, Jjacksen is like a fleeting butterfly that just flies higher and higher the closer he reaches out to catch her with his hands. Just embrace himmmmmm Hye Jin! He deserves your love more than Sung Joon!!

The secondary lead syndrome is real.

At the end of the episode is the real highlight; Sung Joon finds out Ha Ri's true identity--it was bound to happen soon! But now that we've only got five more episode to go, I'm just wondering how the rest of the drama will play out. Something tells me Sung Joon finding out that Hye Jin really is the Hye Jin from his childhood is not the climax of the drama. Maybe someone will get amnesia...? No, the drama wouldn't do that to us...that'd be too cruel...
