INSOLENTLY, GO GO - EPISODE 4

The Ministry of Education, investigating corruption, is only mollified when the parents and Principal Choi announce their intent to enter the tournament.

The next day, protecting Yeon Doo from shattered glass from a building results in a trip to the infirmary for Kim Yeol, who then cuts class and drags her along with. That evening, back at the dorms, both of them remember the day, smiling and laughing. Ha Joon even comments on Kim Yeol's behavior, saying it's unusual. Dong Jae shudders in the dark at his dorm for several days, agitated that he can't seem to reach Yeon Doo.

"Down, boys." Teacher and lackey ogling the cheerleading instructor

Meanwhile, the eccentric cheerleading instruction continues apace. Calisthenics in the rain, getting to know each other (an answer to 'favorite singer' was "A Pink"), and eating dinner without washing up from a rainy, muddy workout make for some cute moments.

When Kim Yeol finds out about Soo Ah's betrayal of Ha Joon's secret, he goes off on her. Even worse, Ha Joon isn't far behind, overhears, goes crazy and even tries to kill himself, howling like an animal. He admits to Kim Yeol that the only reason he doesn't kill himself is their friendship.

Kim Yeol grabs Yeon Doo to shield her from the falling glass.

During another dinner, they mistake wine for grape juice and get snockered, leading to some rather truthful, painful moments, including a broken down Soo Ahand a kiss shared between Yeon Doo and Kim Yeol...

This episode cranked all their tropes up to 11. It's not the fact that each drama has tropes that it's comfortable with, it's how it dresses them up and make you not mind them as much. The cuteness factor was one of them. Despite it being overused, I like the mains going on a date-that's-not-a-date and falling for each other. Eunji and Lee Won-keun (Kim Yeol) have some awesome chemistry.

Kim Yeol and Yeon Doo, cutting class.

But just like they upped the cuteness factor, it also got even darker. Soo Ah's drunken fit consisted of her sitting alone, repeating "I'll kill you all." I'm still not entirely sure what's up with Dong Jae's madness, either. Sitting in the dark and shuddering from stress is not healthy. I wonder if it has to do with not being able to protect Yeon Doo? Ha Joon flew off the handle, too, trying to kill himself in a suicidal rage. I'm hoping the writers address these issues rather than leave us hanging. "Yay, they won, but these people are still damaged" doesn't make for a good ending.

I did wonder how they were going to make the two clubs work together. Now that I think about it, maybe it's too easy. Once they got together there was almost no strife, no classism B.S., and the focus was entirely on the instruction. And then they got to know each other, even if it was forced. While the instructor focused on how they'll know each others' weaknesses, it seems to have forged a bond between them, instead. Maybe they'll form one club: Real White (baek) Tiger (ho) King?

Yes, this is exactly what you think it is.

So where do we go from here? Principal Choi in a cheerleader outfit is a mental image I didn't really need. :) I really like this drama and I don't see it losing steam anytime soon. So tell me what you guys think!
