11. Staff Pick alim17's Current Top 10 Songs Playlist (September, 2015)
Time for another playlist! What have I been listening to as of late? It's been a while since my last one so everything has been cycled out with my latest addictions. Hope you enjoy any new finds you might discover here!
10. Park Bo Young - Leave
This is a really soothing and beautiful song from 'Oh My Ghost,' capturing the feelings of a farewell. I like how whispery her voice is and the simple guitar instrumental in the background, providing an overall bittersweet feeling to saying goodbye and holding onto memories.
9. Red Velvet - Dumb Dumb
This song just came out and has already made my list! It has a quirky, fun sound to it reminiscent of "Ice Cream Cake," and I know I'll be addicted to its catchy melody soon enough! It's a refreshing release before summer officially ends.
8. GOT7 - Just Right
This is a super catchy track that has many different segments of the playful song that sound quite different yet work smoothly together anyway - and I like every single part. It's so catchy. The fun spoken parts and the soothing singing parts mesh well together, keeping you in a fun ride.
7. Big Bang - Sober
This is my favorite song from the 'MADE' series - it's fun and lively yet also soothing and laid back with a kickass instrumental. It has a catchy part where they go "ah, jinjja-ish" and the chorus is addictive so you'll be singing along the whole time. I also like some parts of the lyrics, especially Taeyang's when he calls for a doctor and for a taxi like you would after drinking, except he calls them for other reasons. There's a fun metaphor laced throughout the song.
6. Urban Zakapa - Another You
Although I ended up really disliking 'Let's Eat 2,' the sequel did have some really good music, especially this one. The lyrics are sweet as a man and woman figure out their changing feelings for each other when they initially had no interest. It's cute and realistic, their soothing voices harmonizing and conversing with both subtle and intense romantic feeling.
5. Purfles - A Bad Thing
This is another new song that made my list and I'm already pretty addicted - it has a very catchy beat yet the overall melody is simple and soothing. There's a classy sexiness to the song and whispery vocals that may not emphasize their strong singing abilities but does show that they can capture sentiment, which is a skill in itself.
4. MAMAMOO - Um Oh Ah Yeh
I loved this song. It was my jam throughout the summer (well, until #1 came along much later). Sure, it wasn't entirely like their previous style, but I loved it nonetheless. It was vibrant, youthful, and the "oh yes, um oh ah yes" (I'm pretty sure they say "yes" so I don't know why the didn't title the song "Um Oh Ah Yes") gets stuck in your head, especially as you envision doing the dance move with it. There are plenty of strong vocalizations in the track and it's a fun song to belt out (from the privacy of your car when you're driving fast enough past pedestrians so they only hear a millisecond if they can hear it at all).
3. HyunA - Roll Deep (Feat. Ilhoon of BTOB)
This is a badass song, and it sticks out amongst the girlier, refreshing summer tracks. You feel just as badass as HyunA clearly is while you're listening to this. The catchy beat and her unique voice become hypnotic. The chorus is super simple and repetitive, but that's what makes it an addictive song. One part only lasts a few seconds before moving onto the next repetitive part until you're left mesmerized.
2. Sophia Pae - Still Loving You
This is a beautiful, haunting love ballad about a woman who misses her lover and wants him to come back. I love the vocalized "o-o-ohhhs" before she goes right into the chorus, and Sophia Pae's soulful voice perfectly relays the yearning emotions behind it. And it's a self-composition! How talented is this lady? It's rapidly climbing my playlist to the very top almost there...
1. G-Friend - Me Gustas Tu
Okay, yes, this is my favorite song. After "Um Oh Ah Yeh" finally died down for me, this song came out and it became the next song to be put on repeat despite my co-workers' complaints. It's so catchy, and I think the choreography helps to get it stuck in your head even more because you can't help but envision it and move along while you hum the song. It's just a fun song for pure enjoyment. "Me gustas tu, gustas tu, stu tu ru tu ru tu whatever nonsense they're saying." The girls' youthful voices are easy on the ears and Yuju can belt it! Probably my favorite part is when she's vocalizing in the second half.
