HIGH SOCIETY - EPISODE 15

The prodigal son Kyung Joon returns, but no one's happy about it:

Racing to the hospital after news of her father's collapse, Yoon Ha finds out there are to be no visitors, and Ye Won thinks that her father could be using this as a ploy to draw Kyung Joon back home. Yoon Ha's job is threatened by Ye Won, who also attempts to use Joon Ki against our heroine. Chang Soo's mother lets him see Ji Yi, and Chang Soo tells his mom he's likely to marry Ji Yi, and mom won't have a thing to say about it. Kyung Joon does indeed come out of hiding and garners some different reactions: Ye Won won't give up her position for him and tells him so, Mom rebukes him saying she shouldn't have lived her life for him, and his father casts him out. Kyung Joon hid because he realized he couldn't live and do business the way he wanted (read: "nicely"), so he forged a new identity, and now has a financial empire of his own. Meanwhile, Won Sik's mistress decides to clean up her life, but has no idea how to go about doing this. Ji Yi refuses to take Chang Soo back, citing class and his mother as reasons. Joon Ki resigns rather than try to help Ye Won take down Yoon Ha, driving off without even saying goodbye...

Joon Ki realizes, for the first time, that Facebook is more fun than work.

Kyung Joon is back in town. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I totally understand his family's reaction. You go radio silent, you let everyone think you're dead, and then you show up again, but only because your pop's in the hospital. I understand what he did, living in that family seems like a rotten way to live, but I don't condone the way he did it. You probably could have done a lot of this on the side, until you tell your dad,"Hey, I'm independently rich, and I'm getting out."

"Ugh! I didn't know the human body could bend that way..."

Ye Won
gets on my nerves. She has it all, it's pretty much her company now. Her brother is presumed dead through most of the series, and Yoon Ha is not much of a threat to her, at least so it appears. But she continues to act as if everyone's against her, a sociopathic need to destroy others until she's around her family. Even there, she sort of strong-arms her way back into the house, and takes over her brother's old place. Scenes with her just raise my hackles, and it will probably be satisfying to see her toppled from her high horse in the finale.

"Sorry about that, I chew a lot of gum..."

This episode tried to be a lot more tense than it actually was. In some cases it seemed like "one more obstacle in the way of our protagonists getting together" but only Ji Yi's situation was really a true rejection. Joon Ki didn't say "I don't want to see you," he simply drove off quietly, with dignity. Ye Won's attempts to manipulate the situation are likely to backfire. I'm sure the stock options plus what's on the "USB" (with no USB connectors known to man) will help Yoon Ha, but we've only got one episode left. It's interesting, that we'll probably have a long conclusion, then the aftermath, if there is one, will be short and sweet.

I'm still hoping for a good resolution here. These aren't as thrilling as I would like, and sometimes are there are plot holes you could fly Kyung Joon's jet through. I'll definitely keep watching. We've got one day left! I can wait.
