[AKP Travel] Date with beau at Insadong

Buzz

The weekend is here and you and your boyfriend have been arguing on and off about how the initial passion from the Honeymoon stage is gone and there is hardly anything that excites you anymore. But that might be also because all you guys do is sit around the house, streaming movies on your aging computer.

It's been awhile since the two of you have stepped outside for a date and you both agree that it's time to change up the pace and going back to the basics might be just the kind of spice that the relationship needs.

Here are some things that you need to bring on your romantic date with your beau:

First stop is Ssamzigil, a couple's paradise filled with an array of unique shops, galleries, souvenir shops and eateries. This unique area was designed in such a way by connecting each unique and charming alleys in the form of a spiral-like stairway.

As you do your window-shopping through the lovely, cozy stores all the way to the top, you will arrive at 'Haneulmadang' where you can get a extraordinarily clear view of the sky.

Once you've reached the top,  you will see the an adorable location perfect for couples, similar to the Locks of Love located at Seoul Tower. At this location, you can see that there are hundreds of love notes (tags) that couples have left, expressing their affection for their loved ones.

You can purchase your own adorably decorated love tag and leave a sweet message for your beau. The hardest part? Finding the right place you want to link your love tag.

Once you're done, browse your way around to the most unique cafe that you'll only see in Seoul, Korea, 'Poop Cafe,' or 'Ddong Cafe.' Inspired by 'ddong-bread' (or poop bread), the cafe is decked out in toilet and poop themed memorabilia. . From poop tree decorated with poop shaped tags, to poop plushies, this is the only place where you won't find poop disgusting.

Tip: Their rose latte comes with real rose petals!

Once you're done exploring the vast world of 'Ssamzigil,' head your way over to 'Palazzo Due,' a nice little fusion Italian restaurant among the hustle, bustle and excitement of one of Seoul's busiest shopping districts.

Despite the Italian influenced menu, the interior and exterior design of the restaurant is inspired by Korean-style traditional houses, giving an interesting contrast. Like many modern cafes and restaurants that you see in Korea, this restaurant also focused heavily on interior design and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant to give an ultimate experience for the customers.

The menu has a range of dishes, but their speciality is the classic spaghetti with meatballs and a nice glass of wine. If you're having trouble deciding on what to get, check out their lunch (or dinner, depending on the hour) course menu which ranges from 22,000 KRW ($19.44 USD) to 53,000 KRW ($46.83 USD) per person.

Tip: Make sure you try their desserts including the icy sorbet and sweet Tiramisu.

The Bad: prices are steep and the portions are small compared to the price, but that's what you get when you step inside a gourmet restaurant.
The Good: The atmosphere, taste is above average compared to other Italian restaurants in Korea, you will feel like you're on a date.
Overall: 3 out of 5

Once you've finished filling your empty stomach, head on out and make way to your next and last couple location, 'Saegimsori,' a place where you can make custom couple traditional themed candle lamps. This gem of a place was featured in 'Superman is Back' where the adorable Choo Sarang was seen making her own custom lamp with her name.

The only downside to creating your own custom-made product is that you have to wait few hours or even days for it to be completed. They carve special calligraphy letters and many pictures into small wooden sticks. They also sell t-shirts and lamps with calligraphy carvings.
