Staff Pick: Jenny's Current Top 10 Songs Playlist

AKP STAFF
AOA, Jimin, EXO, VIXX, K.Will, BTS, Iron
So I've kind of been waiting until today to do this list, and I'm sure a lot of people already have an idea why I waited until today, haha. Some of my songs ARE going to be older because once I get stuck on a song, I just keep listening to it instead of paying attention to the newer releases. But hopefully this shows a little more about me as a person!

10. EXO-K - Peter Pan

My second favorite EXOsong, ever (#1 will be higher on the list). Songs like "Lucky"and "Miracles in December" are close, but I can't get over how lovely "Peter Pan" is. I love the incorporation of the fairytale into the lyrics, and that's the number one reason I love this song so much - the lyrics. I would have put the EXO-M version because I like their voices more (plus my bias is Kris...), but I love this song because of the lyrics, so the one I can understand goes on the list.

9. BTS - Tomorrow

I love everything new that BTS puts out, but my default favorite is "Tomorrow". On a kind of superficial level, not only is it produced by Suga, who is my second bias, but alsoJinhas a lot more lines in this song than he usually does in other BTS songs. Aside from that, I love the gritty sound that "Tomorrow" has, as well as the message. Sure, it's a little cliche - "it's always the darkest before the dawn" has been done over and over - but the message, told in BTS' style, is definitely unique.

8. VIXX - Memory

When 'Boys' Record' first came out, this was the track that stuck to me. I'm glad they made the choice not to make this a song for all six members ofVIXXand kept it as a Ravi-Hyukduet instead. It's an amazing song composed by Ravi, and it's a great song for Hyuk to show off his vocals. He's not considered part of the vocal line, but I've heard him live multiple times and he is amazing, and this is a great song for him to show that off.

7. EXO-M - The Star

My favorite EXO song ever. I told you it was coming. Nevermind Kris' "You're just like a rock..... star," that makes me giggle every time I hear it, this is such a fun song where the rap line gets to just have fun. It also gives a chance for members like Xiumin(and in the Korean version, Sehun), who don't usually have that many lines, to have a chance to have a little more.

6. VIXX - On a Cold Night

Okay, as a Leobias, this has to be on my list haha. Originally, I was so focused on "Memory" that "On a Cold Night" didn't make it much on my radar. But as I kept listening to the 'Boys Record' single, this song stuck out to me more and more until I was skipping over "Memory" in favor of this song instead. It's a great song, especially considering it's Leo's first composed song. I did like the Ken-Leo duet we saw in the concerts, but this version is great and I think Ravi's rap lines are an amazing addition.

5. Jimin ft. Iron - Puss

Jimin has always been one of my favorite female rappers because she has such clear diction. A lot of Korean rappers nowadays tend to slur their words into sounding English-like, but not Jimin! She might not be the best rapper around, but she's at the top of my list. Iron's featuring on the track just makes this track even better because his voice balances out Jimin's high one.

4. VIXX - Light Up the Darkness

My favorite VIXX song, hands down. I don't even know why I love it so much. It might be that Raviwrote the lyrics and Leo sounds amazing - or it just might be that I just like the song for no reason. I can't really put a reason to why I love this song so much, but I do. The lyrics always kind of gave me a post-apocalyptic feel, and that might be why I like it, because it's different from what we're used to hearing.

3. K.Will - Growing

A lot of people don't know what the 'will' in my name stands for. People mostly think Jenny will.. do.. something? But nope, that 'will' is for K.Will, ahah. There is seriously not a single song by K.Will that I don't like, but I'll put this one on this list because it's his most recent one. People don't really listen to him outside of Korea and it makes me sad because his voice is so beautiful and melancholy. I'm glad he went back to singing sad songs because I seriously think he's the best singing cry-your-heart-out songs.

2. BTS (Suga) - Intro.????

BTS is made up of talented rappers, and Suga is my favorite one out of them. I prefer his style compared to Rap Monster's or J-Hope's. I'm so glad he got to showcase his talents by himself on this mini-album. His lyrics are gut-wrenching as always and, sometimes, when I walk down the street I have to pause myself just to listen to him because he just demands attention from me.

1. BTS - I NEED U

Yes. I know this JUST came out. But it's what I was waiting for to make this list. I'm a little sad that the sound is a little more mainstream than what I'm used to from BTS (and I kind of wish Jin had more lines..), but it's still an amazingly great song. I just love the mix of all their voices and, while I do love when rap line and vocal line do their own things, I really love it them the most when OT7 is doing their best all together. Some people might disagree, but there is absolutely no member in BTS that's replaceable.

Haha; I think that showed my biases more than anything. But these are the songs I listen to all the time, truly. I tend to like slower, more mellow songs than the title tracks. So, what do you think? Good music taste or really bad?
