On the night of February 10 in the city of Busan, a 77-year-old elderly woman Kim woke up when she heard her dog Doong Yi barking nonstop at 12:40 AM. Turns out Doong Yi was not being a bad dog, but rather alerting its owners to a fire occurring just outside their bedrooms.
Kim saw the thick smoke creeping into her room. She quickly fetched Doong Yi as well as her 61-year-old son and ran out of the apartment barefoot. Only twenty minutes later, the apartment was consumed by flames.
Doong Yi is a bright, 2-year-old maltese. Despite its small stature, Doong Yi is being credited by police for saving its family from the flames.
