Upcoming 'Star Trek 3' movie to film in Seoul

Mayor Park Won Soon of Seoul recently announced on his Facebook page that parts of the upcoming 'Star Trek 3' movie will be shot in his own city.

Park wrote, "'Star Trek 3' will be filmed in Seoul. Today I visited Hollywood's Paramount Pictures Studio, met upcoming 2016 movie 'Star Trek 3's producer Jeffrey Chernov, and agreed to have parts of the film shot in Seoul."

This exciting news seems to fall in place with Park's plans to promote the city of Seoul to the world as he continues, "The filming of Marvel Studios' 'Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' in Seoul was already a success. Furthermore, the filming of American drama 'Sense 8' directed by the great Wachowskis and featuring Korean actress Bae Doo Na has started at the Cheonggye Stream. In the future, too, I plan to make Seoul an attraction."

And indeed, Park has been spotted in Los Angeles, California, reportedly meeting with not only the city mayor, Eric Garcetti, but other Hollywood production companies as well. Park is determined to make the city of Seoul more known to the world as he has even blocked streets and entire districts during the filming of 'Avengers'.

As Park proudly shows off his triumph, 'Star Trek' fans can't help but wonder how Seoul will be used in the upcoming summer 2016 sequel. As it has been reported that 'Star Trek 3' will not be Earth-focused, fans speculate that Seoul may be used to represent an alien city.
