TRIANGLE EPISODE 22

Recap:
Yang Ha reflects on what Young Dal told him about being brothers. The chaebol calls up the old timer at Daejung, Seon Joo, to confirm everything. Young Dal is tormented by the thought that he put his younger brother in jail. Jung Hee goes to comfort him and is stunned by the revelation that Yang Ha is the youngest brother. Young Dal's friends go to Boss Min to see if she can help keep Yang Ha get�out of prison. Chairman Go leaves orders to punish Young Dal before he goes to see the prosecutor. Yang Ha makes it clear to our young tough that�Chairman Yoon is his father, not someone he doesn't remember.

Yang Ha talks to Dong Soo, who tells him he hates to see his two younger brothers fighting�and implores the youngest to never forget his biological father's name. Dong Soo�also tells him to grow up without thinking money is everything.� Managing to avoid prison, the chaebol returns and is embraced by Chairman Yoon, and Dong Soo's words spring unbidden to his mind. Of course, with the investigation halted, this lets Go off the hook, which he is extremely happy about. Dong Soo drinks, tortured because he cannot and did not protect his brothers. Yang Ha buries himself in a bottle, as well, mulling over Dong Soo's words. The next day, he gets a call from Chairman Yoon, telling him that he has gotten rid of Chang Mook, and it is up to�Yang Ha to get rid of Young Dal. When he gets the news that his elderly benefactor is in critical condition from a car accident, Young Dal races to the hospital...


"If we keep on like this. I might cause an accident, so please f*** off."

My take:
Most of this episode was taken up by everyone seeing what they could do to keep Yang Ha out of prison. They strategize, they agonize, they try to figure out some way to make this work. They even go to Chairman Yoon,�who seemed singularly unconcerned that his son might be doing time. I thought it was interesting that by impeding the investigation, they managed to help not only Chairman Yoon but also Chairman Go in the process. Yet no one seemed to think about this...

Wow. Yang Ha seemed to think about the spiels he's heard from Young Dal and Dong Soo in several scenes. I'm not sure, but his facial expressions seem to indicate that he's not comfortable carrying out Daejung Group's eliminate-all-opposition agenda. He looked out of sorts in his adoptive father's arms, too, which I thought was interesting. Maybe, despite his bluster, he's considering switching sides? I thought the look we saw when he got the call from Chairman Yoon was particularly telling.


Yang Ha, discomfited by Chairman Yoon's affection

Seon Joo is possibly the only man at Daejung, aside from Young Dal�of course, who cares about�Yang Ha and talks to him. I thought it was an odd moment when Chairman Yoon, smiling (beaming almost), embraces his son upon his release. Why was he smiling? For show? Joy that his son was willing to take the fall for him? It's obvious Yang Ha considers Seon Joo some kind of mentor, and I think Seon Joo's done his best, but he's still full of regret. Maybe this drama will show him a little mercy at the end.

Chairman Yoon is now showing his full hand--how evil and manipulative he can be. He turns his adoptive son into the scapegoat for the investigation, he works to eliminate Dong Soo, Young Dal, and Chang Mook -- he orders their deaths without a second thought. I thought his mistakes were firmly in the past, but this episode proved me wrong. A leopard can't change its spots...

I think the writers heard my call for action by showing how fluidly Go's thugs could be taken down. This show is wrapping up, tying up plot threads, and it looks as if Yang Ha might be on the wrong side, but I can't be certain. I'm interested again, especially if they can keep this level of tension at the end of every episode. What's going to happen to Chang Mook? And will Yang Ha try to take out Young Dal? And if so, how? Can't wait for the next one!
