2NE1 returned to the K-pop scene with "Falling in Love" which was definitely a step away from their usual fierce concepts. During a recent interview, they explained why they wanted a softer song this time around.

2NE1 shared in the interview, "It's been a long time since we took on such feminine choreography so it was a challenge for us... It's not that we've changed but it's just another side of us."  Minzy added, "I showed a very tomboy-like image up until now so I wanted to show a fresh and cute image through the choreography this time around."

When asked why they chose "Falling in Love" as the song to return with, the girls replied, "Because we like it so much. It is an easy listen and a fun song. It also matches with the summer season." 

2NE1 also talked about their upcoming appearance on 'Running Man' and said, "A lot of girl groups go on variety shows these days but 2NE1 is not like that. Because of our lack of variety show experience, we appeared awkward and not like ourselves when we do go on shows. We will try to make more appearances to get closer with fans."

The group also gave a hint on their next single and shared, "We've collected a lot of songs over the past two years. We are currently preparing for the next single to be released next month and we plan to take on various genres of music."
