Ja Myung Go ends on a tragic note [spoilers ahead]

SBS had high hopes for it's fusion sageuk drama, Ja Myung Go which was led by Jung Ryeo Won and co-starring Jung Kyung Ho, Park Min Young, etc. But it never got much love or attention from the Korean viewers because of its boring, meandering and draggy storyline. I felt that they could have done a better job with the script about the folktale of Prince Ho Dong and Prince Nangnang, rather than making it even more fictional with the addition of Ryeo Won's character. They also simply glossed over the making of the magical war drum which left me disappointed among many others. Another disappointing Goguryeo related drama production. It was most evidently reflected in the ratings which rarely got past the single digit mark (peak: 11.5%), especially in the latter stages and then there was the matter of it getting whipped by Boys Before Flowers, East of Eden, Queen Seon Duk, Queen of Housewives by a wide margin (in ratings). SBS had enough of seeing themselves in 3rd place constantly behind KBS and MBC despite pouring lots of money into it, issuing an order to reduce the 50 episode drama into just 39, making the end of the drama even more butchered and incoherent from the original plan. The drama thus ended tragically with only 7.2% on 21st July, with nearly every major and minor character dying. The end of Ja Myung (Ryeo Won) and Prince Ho Dong (Jung Kyung Ho) was marked by them dying in each other's arms but not before saying their last words to each other. Ho Dong, "If there's a next life, I wish to meet up with you as a commoner." Ja Myung, "If there's a next life, I hope to be your mother. I received sufficient love from you in this life. Let me be your mother in the next to shower you with motherly love." Ja Myung and Ho Dong dies But it was probably a tiring time for everyone involved in the drama for the past 6 months regardless of anything because it's no joke wearing all those thick costumes/armor, filming for hours under the hot summer sun. It was Ryeo Won's first time leading a drama by herself and her first sageuk although it ended on a rather dismal note for her despite praise for her improved acting. She wrote on her Cyworld a day before the drama ended, saying farewell to her role, Ja Myung with lots of regrets. Light moments on Ja Myung Go set Light moments on Ja Myung Go set Light moments on Ja Myung Go set The 2 songs often heard during the drama were pretty good too. And some history here. Before Lelang (NangNang) was absorbed into Goguryeo. Map of Proto 3 Kingdoms of Korea The 3 Kingdoms of Korea. Map of 3 Kingdoms of Korea Next up will be Dream starring Kim Bum, Joo Jin Mo, Son Dambi in a sports related drama but SBS shouldn't be expecting too much from the opening week. Firstly, It won't be starting on a good foundation and position, taking over Ja Myung Go and secondly, Queen Seon Duk is likely to remain at the very top, with the climax of Deok Man's realizing her true identity as a Silla princess coming to a dramatic conclusion. Dream On the other hand, just for trivia purpose, Kim Bum will go head-to-head with Kim So Eun as their dramas Dream and The Man Who Can't Marry matches up on Monday and Tuesday as well. The SoEul couple were also selected by Arirang TV overseas viewers recently as their favourite on-screen couple with 37.95% of the votes. In second and third place were Rain, Song Hae Hyo (Full House) and Lee Min Ho, Goo Hye Sun. Kim Bum and Kim So Eun
