It was announced that Speed Scandal which opened on 4th December last year and has sold over 8.32 million tickets in Korea thus far will be remade into a tv drama. TV drama production house, olive9 announced today that they have recently inked an agreement with the movie production company to produce a drama version of Speed Scandal and are planning to release it in the latter half of 2009. The movie has done wonders at the box-office and is now ranked #6 among the best-selling movies in Korea. It has also at the same time maintained Cha Tae Hyun's position as a top movie star and catapulted young actress Park Bo Young and child actor Wang Seok Hyun into household names. The rights have also been sold to Hollywood and the American version will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. The movie is about a former teen idol now DJ (Cha Tae Hyun) who gets a surprise at his doorstep one day, when someone turns up, claiming that she is his daughter (Park Bo Young) and he is a grandpa. An olive9 representative has confirmed that the drama will continue to revolve around the 3 main characters in the movie, DJ Nam Hyeon Soo, his daughter Hwang Jeong Nam and grandson, Hwang Ki Dong. It has not been confirmed whether the original 3 will reprise their roles. If you haven't watch the movie, you should definitely try to!
