Around one hundred of Korea's top stars (and Korean Americans such as James Kyson Lee and Aaron Yoo) were on the red carpet to kick off the opening of the 13th Pusan International Film Festival on October 2nd. The Pusan International Film Festival is one of the most important film festivals in Asia. It's also the largest film festival in Asia with over 315 films from over 60 countries. The festival has been gaining in significance as Korean Cinema increases it's presence internationally (Movies such as Old Boy, and remakes in Hollywood of My Sassy Girl / Il Mare). The opening of the festival was a bit gloomy with the news of Cho Jin Shil's suicide. Many of the attendees understandably expressed grief. The Pusan International Film Festival committee also announced plans of building a new $133 million center to be used exclusively by the Festival. It will have several theaters, exhibition halls, a museum, and offices.
