Uehara Takako and Naoto Takanaka to star in Rain’s upcoming drama Fugitive

Uehara Takako, a member of the popular Japanese girl group, Speed, is officially set to appear as Rain’s lover in the upcoming KBS drama Fugitive.

After debuting in 1996 when she was only 13.5 years old through Speed, she as well as the group members quickly rose to fame and helped spark the Japan girl idol group boom.

After Speed disbanded in 2000, she later debuted as a solo singer commenced acting activities as well. In 2005, she acted alongside the Hallyu star Ryu Shi Won in a drama special called Much Ado About Love. Speed reunited as a group in 2008 and is currently still active, having released a single this past April.

Uehara Takako plays the role of Japanese best artist, Keiko and shares an affectionate love with Ji Woo (Rain’s character). This will be a love triangle; Lee Na Young and Uehara Takako fighting for the love of one man, Rain.

The famous actor, comedian and director Naoto Takenaka will also star in 도망자 and will play the role of Keiko’s father, Hiroki, in the drama. He has already made numerous appearances in the Korean entertainment industry, being an actor representing Japan, as he starred in 100 movies and 10 dramas, such as 700 Days of Battle: Us VS. The Police, Shall We Dance, Water Boys, and This Sunday.

This highly anticipated drama will air towards the end of this year and will be about the events that unfold after sudden reappearance of an astronomical and uncountable amount of money that was long lost after the Korean War.

    I need some underground info on this drama.
    I read somewhere that they will be shooting on different countries including the Philippines.
    I hope I can get some info on this coz I’d be stalking Rain. (lol)

    YES! Takako!!! I love her! She’s the most beautiful among the other 3 members of SPEED. SPEED is the girl group that introduce me to J-pop when i was 10 years old! XD Time flies. They reuntied again in 20.08.2008.

    Anyway, i’m excited to see rain and takako interaction in this drama! Bet it’ll be a hit in korea and japan. Looking forward for more news! (:

    wow thank akp for introducing Takako’s history as a Speed member. Even though she wasn’t my fav member I think she’s the prettiest out of the 4 Speed members. Speed got me into Jpop…you can say they are indeed the group that started the japan girl idol group era in the late 90’s. Ah those were the memories…

    This came by surprise, I didn’t know Rain’s new drama will have japanese stars in it, probably cause he’s quite popular in japan as well…I’m guessing Takako will speak Japanese in the drama with korean subtitles. Naoto Takenaka is a great actor…this sure adds more anticipation for the drama.

    15. first let’s hope this drama has a good storyline before picking who he’ll end up with and can get good feedback from korean viewers. i’ve already seen countless korean-japanese dramas and movies fail in korea… lol let’s hope this doesn’t become the newcomer in that long list.

    Didn’t Uehara dated Jin & Yamapi in the past? I think I remember that…anyways I like Uehara she’s so pretty & she’s a good actress. Okay I’m seriously hoping she ends up with Rain. Cause that would be a hot.
    & Naoto as well he is such a good actor..

    Man seriously I’m not excited for this drama cause of the two new additions to the cast :D

    OMG!! OMG!!! I used to be a huge fan of SPEED! The idea of seeing Takako again is just incredible!! OMG, I am already very very very excited. It’s been a long time since I last saw Takako on my screen. Yey!!!!

    Oh, and for the record, I hope that Bi Rain ends up with THIS girl rather than Lee Na Young. It’s just that I was really dissappointed in the writers for IRIS when they didn’t make use of Jun Hyung & Sun Hwa’s relationship. Let’s hope that ‘the Fugitive’ does something unconventional!

    Why are people still thinking he will star in Full House 2? I think there is works for Full House 2 but it just doesn’t make sense for Bi Rain & Song Hye Kyo to star in the sequel. I think it’ll be two different people with a similar concept.

    Maybe we can have Bi & Song Hye Kyo appear in Full House 2 but honestly, I can’t see the two of them star in the sequel. More so when he’s doing his military service by next Spring.

    Thanks for the news allkpop. But I just want to point out… that SPEED are together right now as a group. They officially got back together in 2008 and I bought their single Himawari that came out earlier this year. Sorry if I’m complaining it just kind of irked me. XD

    I seriously can’t take the stupid love triangles anymore. Yes, they make the drama much more interesting but at the same time it gets so OLD and gets on my nerves. I wonder who the evil girl is going to be? Probably Lee Na Young?
