Y'all gotta stop with this "not GP friendly" as a reason to why groups aren't known among the GP.

First it's "they don't stand out enough," and now it's "they aren't GP friendly enough"? What even is this argument? Choose a narrative and stick with it.

There's literally no point in changing your concept in sound when it isn't even guaranteed that said group will get more attention because of it.

I think you have to have a good balance.

nah i think successful groups have to find a balance between standing out and being public friendly
once in a while the gp might appreciate a unique one-hit-wonder kind of song, but groups that aren't gp friendly (think dreamcatcher) are definitely going to have a harder time being successful

What does successful mean in this context, though?
Dreamcatcher are more successful than Minx ever could have been, for example.
With how many groups come and go, them still being around is them beating the odds.

GP friendly is just whatever charts well, Jvcki dang did great last year and it's a heavily autotuned rap song so I'm tired of fans using that excuse when something doesn't chart.

i agree with the op, but not ur title. ik it's not always the case, but if a group isn't that popular with the gp, saying that it's because they aren't that gp friendly seems like a pretty vaild point to me, or at least one of the reasons. maybe i'm just not getting the context of this thread idk

GP is a wide range honestly, it just depends on whether the song is good or not

Most of the releases that are called "non gp friendly " that I saw are actually the dance heavy/messy song/ that just feels as a mashup type, which is kinda true

I mean a lot of groups lose momentum if they discard their sound for whatever's in trend, I agree, but truth is if they stick to releasing their own thing while the general public seeks something else chances are they won't hit it big outside their own fandom

I partially agree with you, Tbh concept doesn't matter, if group produces good & catchy songs no matter what concept it is from they are gonna get attention and if they don't then jumping concepts won't do anything
