I know that JYP doesn't have his groups sing as a whole like SM does, but would TWICE benefit from singing their choruses as a group like Red Velvet & SNSD. I mean I love "I Can't Stop Me" but it's basically Nayeon & Jihyo ft. Friends

Good question, I believe and this is just my opinion that some TWICE songs like their B-sides they sing all together in the chorus, like if you listen to their other tracks they have fair distribution compared to other groups.

I actually wouldn’t mind that. It would be a nice change from Nayeon and Jihyo singing it most of the time

    Actually, its not just SM
Many kpop groups outside SM also do this

twice is much more dance focused than snsd, fx, rv, and aespa
probably quite difficult for many members to sing while pulling off their current choreo

but more layers and harmonization usually improve songs

And lessen JYPE quarterly earnings? Yeah, good luck with having that pass the board.

I hate the meshed voices for choruses in SM songs, it irks me so bad lol

so I'm good. The choruses carry more pizazz when it it's not mixed.

I think you should remove aespa from statement. They don't even have a chorus

Twice have some of the most iconic choruses in Kpop - I don't see the benefit.

Imo, it's too early to tell whether aespa would be vocal focused or not. They have strong vocals no doubt but based off one song we can't tell what their muscial direction would be in like. Even NCT is not very vocal focused (though their case is different since they have so many units but you got the point)

If they find a way to give Nayeon and Jihyo lines outside the chorus (Jihyo especially) then why not

If SNSD could sing unison choruses during INTW, then no other ‘dance’ group should be using tough choreo as an excuse.
Also, what about SM bgs like TVXQ and SHINee who always sing unison choruses despite tough choreo?

imo, companies want the easy way out when it comes to line distribution and training. Most of these groups were never taught to sing together and it shows when they suddenly try to during covers or acoustic performances

They only need to fix their LINE DISTRIBUTIONS

But SM's choruses are a lot better

    Benefits of unison choruses :

Makes almost any and every song sound more grand and impacting
Hides the vocal shortcomings of some members
A way to avoid giving the less vocally talented members actual lines they can't handle and which can eventually ruin the song (Momo in Signal and Likey for example)

For a group like Twice, unison choruses would be a very smart decision but who knows if they were ever taught to sing together and harmonize and if they can pull it off.

Not sure if you mean harmonizing, for that the pitch frequency has to match, singing as a group without harmonizing is not pleasing

Imo it gets really messy with more than 5 members and messes up the line distribution. I don't want it

I think most songs would benefit from this tbh
Last part of Feel Special would have been grander with this type of chorus
